Atlanta under investigation by league for creating artificial crowd noise at home games

Post#1 » by campybatman » Mon Feb 2, 2015 5:57 pm

Falcons being investigated for piping artificial crowd noise into their stadium the past two seasons, per sources. The offense is expected to result in discipline with the Falcons being fined and quite possibly losing a draft choice. A Falcons team spokesman said: “We were informed during the season that the league office is looking into crowd noise during our games. We have cooperated fully with them, and we’re awaiting the outcome." Atlanta is accused of piping in the noise while the opposing team was huddling, trying to call its play. The tactics originated from the Falcons' game operations department, per sources. Some around the league have argued that silent counts have rendered crowd noise more irrelevant and it’s difficult to discern how much of an advantage it gave the Falcons.

Clearly didn't give them much of an advantage at all since they got blown out at home in the season finale with the playoffs on the line.

Atlanta is arguably the worst pro sports town in the country though so no surprise.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

Told y'all this was coming in another thread. And the fire alarm stunt Seattle fans pulled on New England every friggin' night of Super Bowl week. Singling out the Patriots as trying to get a competitive edge is naive at best, disingenuous.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Yup. Especially when a bunch of Seattle's players, including Sherman were caught using Adderall a few years ago. No one talk about that though.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Tuesday he has seen enough of the NFL's investigation of fake crowd noise at Atlanta's home games to acknowledge wrongdoing.

The NFL is trying to determine if the Falcons pumped artificial crowd noise into the Georgia Dome for home games the last two years. Apparently, the answer is yes.

Blank had a quick response when asked if there was a fine line for crowd noise not allowed by the league.

''It's not really a fine line,'' Blank told The Associated Press. ''I think what we've done in 2013 and 2014 was wrong. Anything that affects the competitive balance and fairness on the field, we're opposed to, as a league, as a club and as an owner. It's obviously embarrassing but beyond embarrassing it doesn't represent our culture and what we're about.''

Blank said he expects the league to report its findings in two to three weeks.

The Falcons could be fined or penalized with the loss of a draft pick if found to have added fake crowd noise during the opposing team's huddles when they were trying to call a play.

Oh I definitely bring up Sherman & the Seahawks use of PEDS 24/7. it's amusing how the media made them out to be the quote on quote "good guys" in this years super bowl smh
