The two that stand out:
Griffin:running quarterbacks tend to be injury prone. Even if he produces in the future I would have much preferred Tannehill if I'm Washington.
Texans:The team obviously needed a quarterback with the possibility of trading for Bridgewater or Carr. Huge question marks in this category in the future. A big mistake.

My 3, not necessarily in order:

--Jake Locker in the first two rounds. You don't get more accurate when you face better defenders. I've never seen a guy miss so many targets even in practice tosses, like he legitimately had no idea where the ball was going to go when he threw it. There were whispers about his lack of love for the game back at UW too.

--Sam Bradford at #1. Dude had his last two college seasons ended with severe shoulder injuries. He's had 3 of his 5 NFL seasons end with season-ending injuries. That is not a coincidence. At his best he's maybe the 12th-best QB in the league and he's been at his best for about 5 games in his 2nd season. Then again I rated Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy higher than Bradford that year so I would have made a huge mistake too, though none got a first-round grade. I'd still take Colt McCoy today over Bradford.

--E.J. Manuel. He's third on the depth chart behind Tyrod Taylor and Matt Cassel less than 18 months after being a top 20 pick. Tyrod Taylor wasn't good enough to be Joe Flacco's backup in Baltimore. Everyone knows Cassel stinks. And they're both demonstrably better options for a team that would make a deep playoff run with a guy like Andy Dalton or Mark Sanchez.

Thats easy. Seahawks taking so long to pay, a superbowl winning QB. Russell Wilson will go baseball or to another football team.

Jamarcus Russell hands down. Absolute bust, they could have had Megatron at #1 instead, could have traded back and gotten a couple guys instead. Russell set the Raiders back big time.

The Texans passed on Carr with the first pick in the second round, but I wonder if Bridgewater had fallen one more pick would they have grabbed him instead of Xavier?

I was just happy at the time that they didn't trade up to try and get Manziel. I wouldn't have had much of an issue with them taking either Carr or Bridgewater(had he fallen one spot) but they chose to address the O-Line instead, and I guess time will tell if Xavier pans out or not.

Anyways, Houston has addressed the QB spot, we have Brian Hoyer now! Woooo!

How is this not the Jamarcus Russell thread? Because Tim Couch is lucky that he was drafted in 99.

Bradford belongs up there too but he's still in the league, teams still want him. Russell is a walking joke, looks like an O-lineman now, and still will have more money than everyone who posts in this thread combined.. while the next 2 picks, Megatron and Joe Thomas, have been the best at their positions for the past 8 years.

Leaf was last century, but if he wasn't, he'd be right up there with JaMarcus. The only thing that could make those 2 any funnier is if Leaf was suppling the sizzurp to JaMarcus

As a raiders fan I have to agree 100% we got f!!!ked by this pick we couldve have Calvin,AP or Joe thomas imo the worst 1# pick ever

not that it absolves raiders but if you were set on drafting a qb in 07 draft, you were sht outta luck

To a certain extent it does. If you need a QB, you draft a QB, always. It also wasn't the Raiders fault that rookie draft classes had a team by the balls as far as what they could demand financially, which exacerbated how bad it made a team look by drafting a bust. I haven't looked at the later rounds (Chad Henne might have been a second rounder?), but I know Brady Quinn was the only other option, which pretty much frames exactly what you said.
