Sources: Calvin Johnson told Lions he plans to retire.

This is hard to believe. I don't even know if it is real.

Its not that hard to believe. He's made plenty of money and he's 30. Better to retire now before your body is completely destroyed and enjoy a quality life the rest of the way.

Megatron is a smart guy.

I think he's hanging them up too early. Still a top 10 wideout. Just think of what he could do on a team like the Pats or Colts.

But good for him, not enough guys are able to make this decision when they've still got gas left in the tank.

This is really a smart decision if you think about it. I remember one game where he played the ravens he was getting hit really, really hard. He dropped some passes afterwards. I though he got hit harder because he was such a physical freak.

I knew he was going to waste away in Detroit, but i thought he would have a Randy Moss end of career and spend 1-2 seasons with a team like the Pats, Cowboys, Broncos, Falcons, or Panthers.

Got to feel bad it happened to the Lions again.

He is doing the right thing, there is no possible trade out there and Detroit isnt going to cut it him loose, makes no sense to risk your health for a non-contender like the Lions and he has made tons of money.

So flattered you mentioned the Falcons, lol. Too bad they really aren't that much better.

^ I only mentioned the Falcons because Calvin was born and raised in Atlanta. I would think that Calvin might want to play for his hometown.

Osi Umenyiora, and John Abraham both left NYC and opted to play for Atlanta because they have family in Atlanta or are from there. Calvin playing with Julio and Ryan and infront of his family would be appealing to anybody.

I also mention the Cowboys because Jerry has a knack for attracting stars and Calvin playing along side Dez and Romo might also be appealing.

I didn't think about coming home, but I do hope he just retires from the Lions and latch on with someone else.

He's had a great career and injuries have really gotten to him as of late. Feel bad for the Lions but its the right decision for megatron.

I thought the bobby lane curse ended in 2008 with the lions going 0-16. Rebuilding since 91-The lions last great season since the 50's. Where coaching careers die & never coaches again, where talented players retire or get their careers ended early=Barry Sanders, Billy Sims, Reggie Brown, & Megatron. I hope he would change his mind & join either Carolina, Seattle, or Zona & get a ring. Which can still happen, he just needs to find a planet eating robot that can turn his body into Galvatron  He'll be good as new after that. Just like on this video.

He can't just retire and join someone else until his contract with the Lions is over, I believe. His contract with the Lions ends in 2019.

It's cringe worthy watching Rob Gronkowski getting hit repeatedly in the knees. I don't catch many Lions games, but if CJ is getting anything similar, I don't blame him in the least.

Sucks for the Lousy Lions.
