Asking players if their gay becoming a common thing?

The Atlanta Falcons are being called out for it and have recently apologized to Eli Apple for asking.
During an appearance on CSN Philadelphia Friday morning Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple says the Atlanta Falcons asked him a jaw-droppingly offensive question about his sexual orientation at the NFL scouting combine.
“The Falcons coach, one of the coaches, was like, ‘So do you like men?’ It was like the first thing he asked me. It was weird. I was just like, ‘no.’ He was like, ‘if you’re going to come to Atlanta, sometimes that’s how it is around here, you’re going to have to get used to it.’ I guess he was joking but they just ask most of these questions to see how you’re going to react.”
Let’s take a minute to unpack everything wrong in this scenario. First off, it’s strictly against league policy to ask draft prospects about their sexual orientation.

Maybe we should be asking players first if they beat women and children, do drugs and party, do you hang with criminals and strip clubs, do you drink and drive and kill team mates? I wonder if many of today's players would like to have all their background exposed as well. I'd rather have a high character player that is gay than another Johnny Manziel or Greg Hardy. What's next, do we kick all Mexican's and Muslims out of the NFL too?

I don't think one dummy having poor judgement makes it a common thing for the NFL. Unless there are other cases that I haven't heard about.

The problem is that they know the answers to those questions, but if the potential reward shines brighter than potential risk, someone will always make the draft pick. Plus, I will usually try to err on the side of giving someone the benefit of the doubt. Lord knows I've used up some second chances in my time. If they hang themselves with the length of rope you give them, then shame on them.

I guess maybe the argument would be something like, you only see 10% of the iceberg out of the water: So, if you get reports about one or two guys asking these questions, then the number of times it's happened and hasn't been heard about is much higher.

nah, his feelings were hurt. He wasn't pointing at them saying, "hey, you guys broke the law with your line of questioning!"

So we are to start stereo typing gays and being discriminatory like so many other facets of life? He's a football player drafted to play football. So much for keeping some things personal and private.

not worth talking about unless they want to donate blood, which of course I dont want them doing
