Is Josh Norman overpaid and overrated?

I just have a feeling that Norman will have a really bad year this year. I think he is going to be matched up against receivers that are too fast and too talented for him to handle and Norman is really going to be exposed, now that he is not playing that system that Carolina had that protected him.

Will Josh Norman be the biggest flop in free agency this year, or will he still have a pro bowl season ?

I'll bet Josh Norman doesn't spend this coming Sunday covering Terrance Williams all day.

This is the most likely scenario this year.

He shouldn't. Williams should be asking someone if they want fries with that this coming Sunday.

No argument from me... although he'd probably forget the fries like the bimbo forgot my hash browns this morning.

I know I've made my stance on this before, but I think he is going to have a very good year. Probably not as good as last year, but last year he had one of the best years a cornerback has ever had. To me, there's no question he's a top 5 CB regardless of the system he's in. Idk why they didn't have him playing on Brown most of the night, but when he did he was pretty effective.

Didn't Brown burn Norman on his second TD? Or was that Breeland too? I may have got the numbers mixed up.

Norman is over paid and over rated, very much so. Only Dan Schneider makes Cancer Jerry look good.

I don't buy this BS. Last year Norman rarely ever had to go up against an elite WR, and when he did, he didn't shut them down, and they had good to great numbers against Norman. All of last year, Norman only had to go up against Julio Jones, Odell Beckham, and Randall Cobb the whole year, the rest of the year, Norman went up against alot of scrubs at WR. Julio, Odell, and Cobb ended up dominating Norman last year in their meetings.

This year Norman is going to have to go up against Brown, Dez, Odell, AJ Green, Cobb, and Larry Fitzgerald, about 8 elite WR matchups, as opposed to 4 elite matchups last year.

you are confusing him with richard sherman, last year norman always tracked opponent's best receiver. hopkins had his worst game of the season against him for example.

still overpaid tho.

I can see why you would not like Josh Norman, assuming you're a New York Giants fan (nybluemeadow sounds like a Giants fan to me, correct me if I'm wrong). But I think that you are very wrong. I've posted this before in a different thread, but let these numbers sink in for a second. Last year Josh Norman held Dez Bryant, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, TY Hilton, and Julio Jones to a COMBINED 9 receptions for 89 yards. Randall Cobb had 98 yards, but the vast majority of the game he was being guarded by Bene Benwikere. That is beyond unbelievable. That is the absolute definition of shutdown corner.

The question remains to be seen, was Josh Norman just a product of having a very nice front seven in Carolina? Perhaps we'll never know if Jay Gruden doesn't pull his head out of his ass and stick him on the opponents WR1. But there is no debate that last year Josh Norman was nothing short of elite.

Yep ´he´s overpaid and overrated (big time). If a guy called himself "best corner in the game" he simply has to proof it against the best receivers every week. He was hiding against Pittsburgh because he knew AB would disgrace him - let´s wait if he´ll play against Dez though...

The more that I think about it, I can´t even say he´s top 5 though (Peterson, Revis, Sherman, Peters, Harris Jr. are way ahead of him, Trufant and Verrett too imo.)

Yep, because a guy in his first year in a new system should be calling the plays and telling the coaches what to do. Norman said himself that he wanted to defend AB (and he did a nice job on the plays where he did), the coaches had him on the other side of the field. That's not his fault. Norman locked down just about every receiver he played against last year, lets not pretend that because of one game this year where he wasn't even guarding the guy he wanted to that he's "overpaid and overrated". Maybe they're saving him for OBJ.

Some Giants fans are hilarious. Week 3 is going to be fun to watch.

Welcome to the NFC east. Only the foreskin fans and trolls are more hilarious. They are just riding their one week high till things break down and Eli has one of his 4 to 5 interception weeks. or Odell has another melt down. I can't wait till all those defensive players they spent big money in the off season stop showing up. They think their defense will hold up bringing in thug rejects from Miami and Philly is answer to their pourous defensive woes, lol.

Overpaid? Have you been watching whats been happening with NBA contracts? NFL guys are getting bamboozled. Hoodwinked. Used and abused. They need to push the envelope even further out there.

Well last season Richard Sherman tailed Antonio Brown (51 yards & 0 touchdowns), Dez Bryant the past couple seasons, & AJ Green. He had to because of Cary Williams the first half of the year

Norman just gave up 117 big yards to Dez Bryant. Like i said, Norman was lucky to only face three elite WRs last year (and gave up alot of big plays to Julio, Odell, and Cobb), this year he will have to go up against 8 elite WRs

you obviously didnt watch the game, norman switched on to bryant 4th quarter at which point bryant was pushing 100 yards already.

Breeland was responsible for the bulk of those 117 yards. That poor dude has been overmatched two weeks in a row.

Assuming your alias to be preferential towards Big Blue, your heroes will LOVE going up against him.
