2017 Hall of Fame Class

Post#1 » by RavenMad31 » Sun Feb 5, 2017 10:26 pm

Well, the selection committee crapped their pants again on Terrell Owens. Owens is, at worst, the third best WR of all time. They've got guys like Jerome Bettis in there that were never even the third best at their position on any given year. I don't care if he pistol whipped an assistant during a game. He is one of the most obvious Hall of Fame football players to ever not get elected.

I feel like they could have waited for a slow year to get Jason Taylor in. I'm sure this is where someone who knows there stuff better than me will throw some stats out and impress me, but my gut just doesn't need him in at the moment.
Is Kenny Easley significantly better than contemporaries Eric Turner or David Fulcher to justify a nod? Most sane people wouldn't have him in the same league as a Ronnie Lott or probably not a Steve Atwater either. Again, am I missing something other than "he hit hard"?
I was happy to see TD get in. I'm much more impressed by memorable and spectacular than I am by longevity. The guy has more accolades than most guys who managed to hang around much longer. If Gayle Sayers and Lynn Swann are in, then TD was a no brainer.
Kurt Warner took two different trash franchises to a total of three Super Bowls and won one. If Santonio Holmes trims his toenails that day, Warner wins two.
Jerry Jones had the balls to fire Tom Landry and managed to bring three titles to Dallas. Doesn't hurt that he's a character. No brainer.
L,T, How in the hell does a man steal a nickname from the greatest OLB of all time and then back it up in spades? No brainer.
Morten Andersen. Him and his "brother" Gary reinvented FG kicking in the NFL and I believe are one and two in points scored. Well deserved and Vikings fans may disagree, but I think Gary deserves it as well.
