RealGM's Advanced Fantasy Football League - 2QB, IDP
Just like last year I plan on running a fantasy football league, and once again, will do the deep league where you can play two quarterbacks, and we will use individual defensive players.
I know some were initially against it last year, but I imagine most people liked the different format as the league is so deep with QBs that if the league isn't deep, and using the top 10 or 12 qbs, the league is less strategic and all teams are great.
I imagine I will once again allow more teams to make the playoffs than the standard 4, I will have to review how we did it last year where your reward for finishing high is a bye, and the rest have the extra playoff game.
Since QBs will be spread thin and injuries will occur, you will only HAVE to start 1 QB, and if you have a bye, injured QB, etc, you can sub in another offensive player for the 2nd QB spot (it is called the OP spot)...and of course if you have skill players routinely outscoring your QBs you may use that strategy as well.
If there is more interest this year, there may be two leagues and we can run it like we do on the Suns forum for fantasy basketball where we have a premier league, and a novice league (not sure what to call it...we called it D league)...but we may not have that much interest.
I thought I would post early, but the draft will not occur until like the week before the season, so likely more than a month away, but plenty of time to research...and with the dead NBA time going on now, I don't want people to miss it. Several people were sorry to miss it last year. So if you are interested, post in this thread and I will update this post with the participants.
Also, it's run on espn, so make sure you have an account.

Re: Second Annual Fantasy Football League Sign Up
You going to set up another pick 'em league as well bw? That was fun last year and I'd definitely join in again.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Second Annual Fantasy Football League Sign Up
I´d sign up as well.
The only thing I need to know is the difference regarding a "deep league" (I´ve only played the standard league thus far):
- The only difference is that we can start two QB´s and choose our defensive players individually?
- Are there still 7 starters?
- How will defensive players be rated?

No, the roster is bigger. I'd have to check the details, but last year the lineup was something along the lines of:
QB
OP (should be QB but due to byes/injuries the option is to play someone else...or if you have a skill player and the team is deep, you can start that player instead)
RB
RB
RB/WR
Flex
TE
DL
LB
DB
Defensive utility...and defensive player
K
Now, defensive scoring is that you get 1 pt per tackle, I think 3 pts for sacks and interceptions...though one may be 4 and another 3..I think interceptions are harder to come by so they may get the extra point, 6 for a td by your defensive player, and like 4 or 5 for a safety?..Maybe less for a safety.
I came to hate team defense because it threw in too many other things, like kickoff returns and punt returns and other stuff and I always thought "if we are choosing individual offensive players, we should do the same with defense. After all it would be boring with team offense like team defense" Ultimately I got bored with standard after playing it for over a decade.
Most who try this and know the nfl and have played a lot of fantasy, enjoy it more. A guy like JJ Watt is a monster, so how high do you draft him? When do you take your 2nd QB?
I make the playoff pool deep to keep everyone vested as long as possible...the top 2 or 4 teams get byes, and the others basically play play in games, so even doing it for a first year, everyone has a chance...except maybe the bottom 2 or 4. We may have even had everyone make the playoffs with 4 byes for top 4 and the other 8 were seeded accordingly, and whoever moved on played the 4 bye teams, so everyone is vested but I can't remember all the exact details, and they may not be the same.

If you're game all can play. I can just adjust leagues accordingly if we have 2. I could have fewer teams (though I like 12), at least in one, and put the newcomers in the new one, and maybe make it a bit deeper roster wise to make it more competitive.
