Broncos and Garoppolo
Not a Broncos fan, I hate the Raiders but unfortunately a Niners fan. Why didn't the Broncos trade for Garoppolo? The current defense looks like the one that won with a aging Manning, who looked like a game manager. The Niners QB only gave up a second rounder, probably the 33rd or 34th pick. Denver could have dangle Lynch and a second rounder.

Lynch has no value to the Patriots. If they wanted him, they'd have drafted him. But if they can sign Hoyer off the wire or eschew trade value for Lynch.. they'll take Hoyer.
Also keep in mind that throwing a QB into the middle of a playoff race never works. Hue Jackson tried it with Carson Palmer, it failed spectacularly. But the Broncos would have had to offer a 1st for Jimmy for it to be worth it, and their 1st could turn out to be a top 15 pick. So they're ready to ride the season out and address the QB slot next year, which is the smart move.
And the Broncos D.. it looks tired right now. If I'm Elway, I'm not looking for win-now pieces. I'm looking to sell some vets before their value is entirely gone. Talib is probably the first move I'd be making. Don't be like the Giants and realize it too late.. sell w/some value, quickly.

The Patriots are totally sold out to win now. As you said, the Broncos defense, with the exception of yesterday, has looked good enough to make a deep run. So, if all that is missing from the Broncos is better QB play, why would the Patriots trade them that piece and create another road block to another Super Bowl?
