11 weeks in, 6 weeks to go, who ya got for MVP?
Usually, we look at teams with the best records. I feel that 7-3 or better qualifies you at this point.
Eagles 9-1
Steelers 8-2
Vikings 8-2
Patriots 8-2
Saints 8-2
Jaguars 7-3
Rams 7-3
Panthers 7-3
Cam Newton hasn't been great, and the Jaguars are winning mostly because of their defense rather than any one player being MVP-worthy. So I wouldn't have anyone on those teams in MVP discussion.
And let's be honest, the MVP is going to be a QB. So the QBs for those teams are Wentz, Roethlisberger, Keenum, Brady, Brees, and Goff.
To me, it's Brady, and it's not close. He's by far the best in terms of statistical measures, and his team is tied for 2nd best record in the league.

Not saying he doesn't belong, but the team record is only 6-4, so that probably disqualifies him for most voters. 10-6 might not be good enough to be a legitimate candidate this year. And even then, Brady is smashing everyone as far as stats go. #1 by a landslide in terms of advanced stats like DYAR and DVOA, and in terms of traditional stats, he's #1 in yards and passer rating, and has a 22/2 TD/INT ratio. He's having one of the best seasons of his career, and his team is tied for #1 in the AFC, and #2 overall.
And he's doing this without Edelman.

I agree that Brady will likely win it. At least he should over Wentz. But, Wilson has had to do everything (Team Leading Rusher). He's been like 85% of the offense this year. Which is an amazing stat when you think about it.

I don't know if there is even more than 2 legit candidates atm and one is solely based on narrative. Brady is by far the best player in the league again and I don't think it's close.

Can Aaron Rodgers get it by NOT playing? The Packers are a pile of doo-doo without him. I'd have to say Wentz or Goff has the inside track and when one of them wins it, they should hold the trophy ceremony in Cleveland, who could have drafted either of them and still has no QB.

Imho, there are currently still quite a few hats in the ring. It will all unfold the next few weeks.

That injury certainly shows his value to the team and is going to make him a whole lotta money. 160-180MM/5 years possibly? He should send Barr a thank you card at the very least.

The Rams probably ended Wilson's chances for MVP. Wentz got hurt. For QBs it's down to just Brady.
But really, I think Gurley should be considered. He needs 3 TDs to get to 20 for the year - Brady will probably end up around 30-33 TDs.

Brady
Gurley
LeVeon
Big Ben
Antonio Brown (who will lead the league in rec yards despite missing 2 games)
K. Hunt
I've taken Russell Wilson out but he probably deserves to be mentioned, also filtered out Wentz who would be right there with Brady.

Case Keenum absolutely deserves consideration, and honestly, I'll take every QB that's playing at an elite level and leading winning teams (Brady, Brees, Keenum) over any other position player (Brown and Gurley). Sorry, but a great QB is just always going to be far more valuable than anyone else. I would say even Big Ben and Goff are bigger reasons for their teams' success than Brown and Gurley. They play QB. It's just the way it is.
As far as the QBs are concerned though, Brady is still my pick, but he's looked pretty bad for the last 3 weeks. He's got 2 TDs vs 4 INTs, not throwing for a lot of yards, and the Pats have struggled in those games. Rivers has caught up to him as far as statistical output, but since the Chargers are .500, he's not in the conversation. But I don't think Brees and Keenum are too far back at this point. In fact, both of them are right there with him, if not slightly better, in certain advanced stats.

So are you guys going O-line, RB or kicker in the first round of next year's draft?

1st Round? No, it's custom to trade out of the 1st round. There won't be a pick.

So, is Jerry gonna go All-in and trade up for another Sean Lee type? Draft another linebacker that's injury prone?

I'm already looking forward to next year's draft and season. This year sucked with all the injuries and suspensions.
