Let's suppose for arguments sake that Brady actually demanded a trade.
Why would this be their last year together?
Belichick has never won anything without Brady and is pretty intelligent. He knows that Brady is his best option for the foreseeable future. Kraft is fairly loyal. Why wouldn't he stick with the GOAT for a while? Unless Brady severely declines then there is no reason to break up one of the most successful dynasties ever.

Or...
Maybe Little Bill wins one last title and heads down to the Florida Keys, hops on Jimmy’s boat and goes fishing. And tells Brady & Kraft to go pound sand.

The foreseeable future is probably a strong word for a 40 year old QB. Every year they get from him at this point is gravy.

I thought Bellichek always said he was probably going to retire when Brady did?
But if he wanted to keep Jimmy G, even if it meant pushing out Brady before Brady wanted to stop playing, that would suggest Bellichek wanted to keep coaching, after Brady was no longer starting for the Pats.

The story makes it clear that Belichick’s plans were to have Jimmy G established as the QB along with setting his sons careers up and basically leaving the team poised for continued success.

The Giants feel like the perfect opportunity for Belichick to take his career full circle.
This may seem completely out of the blue, but I wouldn't be completely shocked to see him end up as Navy's head coach at some point. He grew up with the program, if he doesn't go to the Giants it feels like he'll do something completely random like coach there or coach lacrosse.

I could see the Navy thing if Niumatalolo decided to walk. That would be so much like Belichick.
I don't see the Giants. Short of Mara making a serious sales pitch, BB doesn't seem like the guy would go back there. His legacy is up the road now.
I can sure see him spending a lot of time with Jimmy on his boat in the Keys. They seem like peas in a pod.

I guess more accurately, the Giants seem like the only other potential pro job. I believe he respects the organization and if he truly wanted to stick it to Brady / Kraft, what better way then beating them with Eli yet again, not to mention the #2 pick to take a QB to groom.
But retiring from the NFL and making the CFP with Navy or Army may be the most BB thing and would be an amazing sports story.

That Espn article is so focused on the tensions between Brady, Belichick and Kraft as well as trading away Jimmy G. But more should be discussed that his Belichick's assistants( Josh Mcdaniels and Matt Patricia) are about to become head coaches elsewhere next year and other patriots assistants could go elsewhere as well.

Kraft treats Brady like his own blood. Only fitting that he sided with him on this matter. It was definitely a short sided approach, but not surprising to say the least. Crazy thing is this would all be a non story if Jimmy G hadn't tore it up.

Ya it definitely seems Jimmy G going 5 and 0 since become the starting QB for the 49ers and it's become apparent the 49ers now have a franchise QB, this is having a big effect on Brady, Belichick, Kraft and the entire patriots franchise. This is why Belichick wanted Jimmy G to take over as QB of the Patriots and have Jimmy G be the Patriots QB for years but that's all gone now.

If I'm Kraft, I dont know how you choose Brady over Belicheck, which is exactly what he did.
Yes, Brady has been largely responsible for a lot of success the past 2 decades. So has Belicheck. And Belicheck positioned you to have a lot of success for the next decade beyond that with Jimmy G. And you tore that down for a 2nd round pick and a clear head for your 40 year old QB.
There has to be a few young guys in the Pats locker room looking at each other skeptically now. There is no future plan for the Patriots at QB. One big hit can make Brady re-think his career, and even though he's still great, Brady sure is making more mistakes these days than he used to. If the Pats dont win the SB this year, I think the Jimmy trade (and this spat) will be a bad milestone for the Patriots franchise.

I think Belichick knew. Getting out of Brady this summer and giving the team to Jimmy was the move.
Scientology should recruit Brady after he's done with football. Seems like the type.

I didn't even know Bellichek's son's were involved in running the Pats.

Very out of character for bellichek. I've seen him dump fantastic players. But it was always an eye for the future. And I did not need the 9ers for me to see that Jimmy G was good. I had seen this dude was off the charts when he was with the pats. It was scary. Incredible, They had a Fn backup plan set! Now I'm even more upset, because they resurrected the 9ers to compete with my Rams. Thanks Kraft! It was a mistake to dump G. I had seen that all the way from the West coast. So something had to have happened for that to occur. That's why I'm giving the story credence and believable.

imo the mistake wasnt dumping jimmy g, the mistake was giving him away for a bag of golf balls....how they didnt get multiple picks out of him is crazy

And - every indication was that the Browns were ready to offer that bag of 1st round
golf balls picks last offseason.
