What happens to Foles? Where does he end up?

Eagles retain him as a backup to Wentz (who might not be ready to go week 1).

There's no way they keep him.
I dont understand his contract situation - spotrac has been extremely unhelpful - but if he's still with PHI, they will trade him. If he's a UFA, he'll at minimum compete for a starting job somewhere.

It all comes down to Wentz's recovery imo. I don't see the need to expedite the whole process...This season more than any other showed the importance of a competent backup. Foles has a soft spot for the Eagles, and unless the Eagles fetch a 1st or top end 2nd round pick, I really do think he's going to stay pat. Call it a hunch or whatever...
Found this little tidbit too.
According to Spotrac, the Eagles are projected to rank 19th in quarterback spending by cap space even if they keep Foles. That's a completely fair and manageable financial commitment.

I don’t see see Foles a season a guy who will demand to be traded somewhere he could start.
He could, and subsequently demand a pay raise from his new team as starting QBs made 15 a year these days.
If Eagles could keep him at a moderate backup salary, why not.

But they can't. That's just it.
The guy just won 2 HUGE games. If the Eagles dont trade him now, they are losing value. If Foles doesnt get a contract now, he's losing value. The odds that he will be OK with walking in as a permanent backup next season are slim to none.

If some team offers a 2nd / early 3rd the Eagles will trade him... guess some teams will offer that value (Cardinals and maybe the Steelers IMO)

And they'd probably rank close to 32nd if they dont keep Foles, save 7m (less the cost for another backup, so lets say 3.5m), and additionally grab another pick for a guy who's so clearly not a part of their future. I think the only way Foles stays an Eagle is if the market for QBs is so saturated that no one is willing to part with even a 3rd for Foles. And considering how he just played for the past 6 games, I really dont see that happening. With Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville, New York Jets, Miami, Denver, Cincinnati, and Arizona all looking to find starters or stopgaps (w/teams like NYG, MIN, and BAL all having questionable situations as well), I dont see how the Eagles pass on this sell-high opportunity. Or Foles staying quiet about his possible last chance to be a starting QB and get paid like it.
If Foles starts a game or two in 2018 and turns back into a pumpkin (for PHI), they both lose out on value and money. Can't see them taking the risk.

If Foles doesn’t demand anything, they could.
I think Foles would be in the right to demand a trade and $$$. But he just doesn’t seem like the guy to do so. This is a guy who was ready to retire and only came back to play for Andy Reid.

Like third of the league looking for a qb, he ll have suitors
Ideally young rebuilding teams go draft route, teams that have rosters to make playoff push come to mind, arizona, denver or buffalo most likely. minny as dark horse.

This is my feeling.
Wentz has been in the NFL for two years, and in both years has sustained an injury that caused him to miss time. You have Wentz cheap for a while - I would keep Foles and I think Foles would want to stay.

He should go to the Pats and be Brady's new successor, then they can trade him for a second round pick and let Brady play until he's 50.

Wentz played 16 games in 2016. 16 games is the entire regular season.

the end game of all of this is to win a super bowl. trade foles for what? a 2nd round pick? foles is worth way more than a 2nd round pick, what is a 2nd round pick gonna contribute that foles can't as a backup to wentz? eagles have two starting caliber QBs right now. that is an amazing insurance, one that is definitely needed for a team that may very well end up in the super bowl again next season
just because the eagles are one of the favorites to reach the super bowl for say, the next 5 seasons, doesn't mean that they will actually get there and win it. you maximize those odds with a legit starter behind an MVP caliber QB in wentz, at least for one more season
