Bad calls helps the NFL?

In the wake of the calls made in the Philly-Dallas game some people were wondering if the NFL deliberately allows officials to make controversial calls.
On Ross Tucker's podcast, Andrew Brant noted that in the Fail Mary game from a few years ago, the SportsCenter following that game was one of the highest rated in several years.
They also mentioned that NFL probably got a lot of coverage, including in the offseason, during the whole Deflategate controversy.
NBA uses replay to correct calls. The calls in the Dallas game should have been easy to correct with replays yet they didn't.
I don't know how much the Eagles and their fans are making of the game, whether they feel it was stolen from them, etc.
But it's funny how controversy from bad calls may help the NFL, isn't it?
