Hey everyone; I'm an avid sports book reader and I'd love to get some recommendations of your favorite books.

I prefer football books but I also like basketball books (loved Bill Simmons' Book of Basketball and "Jordan Rules" and some others.

So, what are the best and/or your favorite NFL and NBA books out there?

Thanks everyone!

This is a tough one because there are so many. It really depends on whether you want to read on the complete history, the creation of the NFL, or more about specific coaches, players or teams. There is a good Lombardi one. I wouldn't want to read a book about Belichick but David Halberstam who wrote "Seven Seconds or Less" chronicling a the season of the 06-07 Phoenix Suns, which I really liked, wrote one called "The Education of a Coach" about him, but that was in 2005...so a lot has happened with him since then.

There is one about the 85 Bears that might be interesting. Foles wrote one after winning the Super Bowl that is supposed to be good.

One I'd like to read that you might find interesting is "You Can't Make This Stuff Up" by Al Michaels.....it probably covers a lot of football and more...but he's certainly had an interesting life...I know he wrote about Howard Cosell and OJ quite a bit in it. Howard Cosell was on MNF but also called boxing matches. I heard about a story once where they were driving in a limo in Kansas City or somewhere like that and there was a fight on the side of the road with a lot of people watching, so they pulled over and Cosell started calling the fight.....and the guys slowly stopped, in awe.

Thanks for those recommendations!

I did read and LOVE the Nick Foles book!

I like reading about individual players more so than "history" though a good history book can be a fun read from time to time.

I might check out that Al Michaels one!!
