WHO IS THE MVP THIS YEAR?

So, everyone wants to know: who is the most valuable player this year? Despite Lamar Jackson’s effect on the Ravens (which is sizeable), the most valuable player in the NFL this season has been Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson.

In 908 snaps this season, the eighth-year pro has earned 3.1 wins above replacement, almost a full win more than the next-highest player in Dak Prescott (2.2). What’s most impressive about Wilson is that he’s accounted for over half of his team’s total WAR. Seattle is fifth among all NFL teams in cumulative player WAR through the first 14 weeks of the season, but only 19th if you don’t count quarterbacks.

The other MVP frontrunner, Jackson, is sixth in WAR (1.7 wins) through 14 weeks, as his Ravens are second in the NFL in WAR generated by non-quarterbacks and first in WAR generated by offensive linemen. Thus our grading system, and the PFF WAR model built off it, appears to be capturing the fact that Wilson is doing a great deal of the work for the Seahawks, while the Ravens are more of a team effort.

That's cute, but everybody knows PFF isn't the end all be all. Show this to Mark Ingram lol

Did you read what I quoted? The Article??

Wilson has earned 3.1 wins above replacement, almost a full win more than the next-highest player

Jackson, is sixth in WAR (1.7 wins) through 14 weeks

It's pretty clear Baltimore is a better team & Lamar has a far better supporting cast. The numbers don't lie.

Yes, but that doesn't change anything. Let's take it play by play.

#1 in the WHOLE NFL .
Just clinched AFC North. Seattle might be 2nd in their division which will put them in wild card. Wilson laid an egg last week in a crucial moment of his season. Lamar haven't folded yet.

Beat top teams Pats, Seahawks, Texans, Bills, 49ers and destroyed Rams. The same team that destroyed you guys. Not only have we just beat these teams, we annihilated most of the teams. It was a SPANKING. Lead by Lamar.

33 Passing TDs this year and leading the league even though "he's not an accurate passer".

Top 10 in rushing yards (as a QB) #5 right now before the rest of NFL plays. Just broke NFL rushing yards record

7 more TDs by rushing. That's 40 TDs overall. Nobody even comes close.

109.2 Passer Rating (#4) which will be higher after tonight's game. Russell is behind him at #5. Had a perfect Passer rating in 2 games this season.

Highest QBR in the league by far at 79.8 which will be higher. Wilson at 70.8 at #4.

The most electrifying player this season by far. A walking highlight reel . The headline of this season.

Not discrediting Wilson at all, he's having a tremendous season too but he just falls right behind LJ and his Lamarvelous season. Can't penalize the Ravens for putting the right "team" around Lamar. McCaffrey and many experts and players have already said it's a done deal. Sorry bud, any other year it would of been Russell, but LJ became great too quick.

If Lamar was hurt at the beginning of the year, Ravens won't be in the playoffs. That's enough value right there. Now take that for data.

Russell Wilson literally carries that team on his back and then some, I am amazed at how terrible his offensive line is and how well he still plays. Take Russell Wilson off the Seahawks team and replace him with an average QB like Ryan Fitzpatrick and I cannot see the Seahawks winning more than 5 games this season.

This might be true, but what Jackson is doing is absolutely insane. He deserves the MVP IMO. Its like Russ winning the MVP over Harden because the triple double. Harden may be carrying his team more, but Lamar is doing some unprecedented stuff.

You can literally say the same thing about Lamar. Just look at how the team looks when RG3 comes in. Lamar is the engine. Put any regular QB on Ravens and they would be getting sacked, Lamar keeps plays alive with his feet. You think Ryan the interception machine could even lead this Raven team to 10 wins? lmaoo

This week looks big for the AFC playoffs. Also a chance for Philly to take a lead in the awful NFC East, and potentially a trap week for Vikings who aren't good on the road (though I don't know that playing in LA is a really a big advantage to the home team)

Texans vs Titans
Steelers vs Bills
Vikings vs Chargers
Rams vs Cowboys

lol I'm a New Yorker . Whole family is a Yanks fan. I grew up watching both Knicks and Nets on local stations, in the early 00s when I was a kid, the Nets were the ones winning so I gravitated to them more, but I am still a Knicks fan as unbelievable as that may sound to some. And the first NFL games I remember watching were the Ravens in the playoffs and them winning the 2000 Super Bowl. The Ray Lewis/Ed Reed defense made me a lifetime fan.

I made this account in 2016. How good was the Nets in 2016? Exactly. What time period of being a Knick and Net fan make me fair weather? Don't be like your Cowgirl pal over there. And while you're at it check how great the Ravens were in 2016 too since I'm so fair weather. Well 2015 really since I made the account just after the new year.

Playoffs? Yes. I know LaMar is the CLEAR MVP, I would vote for him on my ballot if I had one, but Russell Wilson is a close second. Cactus isn’t discrediting Lamar, nor am I. I get Jackson is a very exciting player to watch, but Russell Wilson has probably been just as impactful
