Why does Carson Wentz live in Houston?

Post#1 » by chuck_wagon44 » Thu Jun 11, 2020 3:54 pm

Can any Eagles fans explain this situation?

If I'm not mistaken, he has absolutely no Houston ties whatsoever so it's a bit of a surprise to me. Especially considering how hot and humid it is in Houston during the summers.

I know a lot of professional athletes make their homes in Houston but most of them have some sort of ties to the city (i.e. Adrian Peterson) so this one kinda caught me off guard.

If I had to venture a guess I'd say it's probably for conditioning purposes. Texas tax laws are also lax so it's not a bad place for investment properties.

I heard from players who live in Philly opt to live in Jersey because Philly is a terrible place to live supposedly. No idea though.

Texas property taxes bite in the ass to the point where the lack of state income tax and low sales taxes don't matter. Also most of the surroundings of Houston are flood prone so insurance is high even if you get lower price per sq. ft.

He might have a McMansion in some suburb like the Woodlands though.

Wentz is a hunter right? I’d imagine the hunting is much better in Texas than it is in Philly. Wentz is a country boy, makes sense that he would prefer to live in Texas.

Warm weather. States with warm weather in Jan/Feb is Cali, Florida, Georgia, Texas. The cold in Phili in Feb is no joke.

Wentz was raised in North Dakota. Philly has no idea what cold is when they average just at or above freezing in Jan/Feb. Try zero and dropping down to -50 with wind and windchills that will crack your frozen nose hairs. It's so cold water can't be wet in the air so it seems dryer and you might initially feel warmer than you would at 25. That is until body parts start turning black.

Maybe Wentz is just planning ahead for his next job. Maybe his wife has ties there. Who cares really?
