Redskins name change

Post#1 » by BillTheGOAT » Fri Jul 3, 2020 6:06 pm

According to NFL reporter Mike Garafolo the name change might take ”a couple weeks”

How about Redskins name remain intact, but replace the head with a football? Footballs are red.

So long as they don't get anyone from the Pelicans' naming committee. Those options were terrible.

I like any sort of historical nod to disenfranchised groups - something celebrating Native American history in the region would be a nice tribute. Looks like Anacosta/Nacotchtank tribes were in the area around the time that Europeans started migrating, so could probably find a powerful Algonquin word or hero's name that works well.

All 5 should get their nickname changed (Washington Redskins, Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Florida State Seminoles)

I think re-naming them the Foreskins would be appropriate.

For whatever reason Redtails seems to be catching steam on social media. That's terrible.

Florida State has the blessing of the Seminole tribe to use the name, they’re not changing it.

I thought for a minute maybe they could do the “Red Warriors” to be not so generic but it still gives off racist vibes so that’s a no go. I hope they don’t go with the Redtails, the Jets are all we need for a plane mascot, no need to add another

DC Braves or buy the rights to the DC Defenders, keep colors, if Braves, keep helmet, if Defenders, logo DC or and a cannon like the Arsenal with cannon balls.

I think they should just go with Skins. They retain the Redskins history that way, and Skins ties in well with footballs.

The connotation it can have with the word "skinheads" is enough to not go with "skins"
