That sounds waay too much for a disgruntled player who isn't playing a premium position, quality player for sure though

It's a lot. But there's only one Bill O'Brien last time I checked. He's a special player.

Gotta pay him soon too, will be difficult fill the pass rusher need long term with so much resources invested in safety.

They'll be fine. They've managed the cap well.

Minkah and Ramsey went for far less. One hell of a haul for the Jets.

Adams>Both

It's a steep price & a risk. But Adams is a far more versatile player than Ramsey.

The Ramsey trade (Two 1's) was bad because they already had a guy like Peters beforehand. So the trade made no sense. Even tho Ramsey>Peters. Peters played better in Baltimore.

Adams is a game changer.

He’s very suspect in coverage though. He’s basically an undersized LB. He’ll be fun to watch in Seattle but that was a very steep price to pay.

Some talk that this trade was about matching up with Kittle and some other TEs.

Or trying to recapture the magic of Earl Thomas. Seahawks fans say they don't draft well in the first round anyways.

Does this move preclude signing Clowney long term? There's also some talk about getting Everson Griffen.

Legion of Boom got a lot of pub but that defense took off with Bennett and Avril to get them the pass rush.

He was lights out in this role for the Jets over the past two seasons, as he comes to Seattle sporting an 88.8 coverage grade. His ability to play flat-footed and drive on in-breaking routes from the slot is tremendous

While it’s a very difficult problem to take the game of football — a game that is the product of many interconnected pieces — and isolate the impact of one player, we’ve attempted to do that with our PFF WAR metric. Because Adams excels at everything, specifically coverage, he has been one of the most valuable defensive players in the NFL since entering the league in 2017, with only Harrison Smith eclipsing him in terms of win shares.

After struggling a bit in coverage as a rookie (allowing six touchdowns), he broke up 10 passes and intercepted two more over the past two years while allowing only 44 completions into his coverage during that time. Receivers catching passes against Adams in 2019 gained just 4.5 yards per target, and Adams' 0.31 yards per coverage snap is in the top fourth of the league at his position.

2 int’s in 2 seasons. I wouldn’t say that’s excelling as a DB.

I know you’re expecting Earl Thomas but he’s no Earl.

Yes, but it's more about stopping the run imo. With the Niners, and Rams in the division.

He's a classic box safety. But also good in coverage (can cover TE's).

This move actually saves them money against the cap.

He's a box safety. Which was Kam Chancellor's role. But he's a better all-around player than Kam.

Quandre Diggs is the starting Free Safety. A very underrated player.

I would never give up two first round draft choices at a diva position like DB or WR. Seattle gave up way too much despite him being a great player.

Adams was the one that wanted and stated he wanted come to Dallas. As much as I would have wanted to come here, we couldn't afford it. We are too close to the cap. Plus I would never give up what the Jets are asking.

In most cases I would agree. But Adams is unique. The Safety position is a key one in Pete's defense.

If I was in charge, I likely wouldn't have pulled the trigger myself. But here we are.
