Bill Belichick is 62-73 (1 PO Appearance/1 PO Win) In 8 Seasons Without Tom Brady At QB

Post#1 » by Mirotic12 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 4:03 pm

Bill Belichick's career as a head coach in the NFL, with different starting quarterbacks other than Tom Brady.

These are the 12 starting QBs that Bill Belichick has had so far in his NFL head coaching career, other than Tom Brady:

1. Bernie Kosar = (11-18 regular season)

2. Todd Philcox = (2-3 regular season)

3. Mike Tomczak = (4-4 regular season)

4. Vinny Testaverde = (16-15 regular season) and (1-1 playoffs) (17-16 overall)

5. Mark Rypien = (2-1 regular season)

6. Eric Zeier = (1-3 regular season)

7. Drew Bledsoe = (5-13 regular season)

8. Matt Cassel = (10-5 regular season)

9. Jimmy Garoppolo = (2-0 regular season)

10. Jacoby Brissett = (1-1 regular season)

11. Cam Newton = (7-8 regular season)

12. Brian Hoyer = (0-1 regular season)

= 12 different starting QBs in total = a record of 61-72 (regular season) and (1-1 in the playoffs) = 62-73 record overall

Cleveland Browns

1991: 6-10 regular season
1992: 7-9 regular season
1993: 7-9 regular season
1994: 11-5 regular season (1-1 playoffs - 12-6 overall) (lost 29-9 in AFC Divisional Round)
1995: 5-11 regular season

= 36-44 (regular season) 1-1 (playoffs) 37-45 (overall)

New England Patriots

2000: 5-11 regular season (Drew Bledsoe)
2001: 0-2 regular season (Drew Bledsoe)
2008: 10-5 regular season (Matt Cassel)
2016: 3-1 regular season (Jimmy Garoppolo / Jacoby Brissett)
2020: 7-9 regular season (Cam Newton / Brian Hoyer)

= 25-28 so far (regular season)

= overall (Browns and Patriots) 61-72 (regular season) and (1-1 in the playoffs) = 62-73 record overall

In the 8 seasons that Bill Belichick did not have Tom Brady as his starting QB, he has had just 2 winning seasons, 11-5 in 1994 (Browns), with Vinny Testaverde / Mark Rypien, and 11-5 in 2008 (Patriots), with Matt Cassel (Brady started the first game that season).

6 out of the 8 seasons in which Bill Belichick did not have Tom Brady as his starting QB, were seasons in which he had a losing record.

In the 8 seasons that Bill Belichick did not have Tom Brady as his starting QB, he has made the playoffs just 1 time. In 1994, with an 11-5 record (Browns). In that one season that he made the playoffs, he went 1-1 in the playoffs, and lost 29-9 in the AFC divisional round against the Steelers.

In the 3 seasons that Bill Belichick did not have Tom Brady as the starter of the Patriots, he has 2 losing seasons, and failed to make the playoffs all 3 times.

With the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick's head coaching record without Tom Brady as his starting QB is 25-28.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the resume, sans Tom Brady, of the supposed GOAT head coach in the history of all of North American team sports, according to the "experts", "analysts", talking head "pundits", and of course the Tom Brady haters.

And a pretty damn good defense early on in that QB's career before he really became great, too.

I don't think you two fully read the OP's post and proof. If I read it correctly he repeated some of it 321 times so not sure how you missed the reality of all the different ways he tried to make it clear for you.

With Tom, he's a winning coach.

Without Tom, he's a losing coach.

He has had good defenses at times both during his Tom years and without Tom years. But having a killer offense is sometimes a great defensive help to demoralize and pull an opponent out of their game plan. I remember a younger Tom throwing 6 TDs once in a first half and being pulled at halftime. Think that opponent had a chance that game regardless of Bill's defense? Tommy had another game like that just recently with Tbay at age 43.

Vinny T being the other great gamer type QB he had went to the playoffs. But Kosar, Tomczak, Bledsoe and others were viable QBs. I didn't pay attention to Newton there this season so maybe someone else can speak to any value he had this year or not.

I think the year with Matt Cassel filling in you have to give it to the coaches and defense. They got more out of Matt that year than any other team did and missed the playoffs with a record that typically is a lock for a wild card birth at minimum.

Indeed.

Also, tits.

Also, without tits.

AND like, 420 different various instances of tits + scrotal droppings = arbitrary amount of who cares.

(also yes, I happen to think Brady is the GOAT, see 2007 when he finally got a big time weapon in Moss)

boom bam a slam a damn ding dong ping pong + tits.

Updated Belichick's record, after the Patriots beat the Jets, to finish at 7-9 for the season.
