The NFL's salary cap for 2022 will rise to $208.2 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, expanding by $25.7 million compared to this season.

This is why we shouldn't pull our hair out out over large contracts. Dallas fans were all freaking out over Zeke's contract which averages $15 million per year. This cap rise takes care of Zeke and then some. $25m in more space is huge.

It still doesn't make sense to pay RB's though. Even if Zeke, for example, wasn't cooked you can get 80% of his performance IE a James Robinson at a fraction of his price...

Generally speaking RBs don't get paid much. Even Zeke. DeMarcus Lawrence got a 5 year - $100m contract and has done less for the team than Zeke has.

Anyway I wasn't wanting to get into to debate about what RBs make, I'm just pointing that that what looks like a huge contract today will look small in just a couple years time and much of that has to do with this continuously growing salary cap.

If the cap grew this much every year, teams will have a whooping $300m to work with in just 4 years time.

That's a lot of money the Jags can spend on guys who used to play for Urban in college.

You can probably get THE James Robinson at a fraction of his price next year

Offer Urban like a top 253 protected 7th rounder, and he'll trade him to you in a heartbeat.

Well yeah…unless teams continue to pay RBs like they have recently as a percentage of the cap.
