Dshaunn Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
The New York Times reported Tuesday that Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson booked massage appointments with at least 66 different women over 17 months, from fall 2019 through spring 2021.
The list of 66 includes the 24 women who have filed lawsuits against Watson, including two in the past week; a woman who sued Watson, but then withdrew the complaint; two women who filed criminal complaints against Watson but did not sue him; at least 15 therapists who issued statements of support for Watson at the request of his lawyers; at least four therapists contracted with the Texans; five women identified by the plaintiffs' lawyers during the investigation for their civil suits; and at least 15 other women whose appointments with Watson were confirmed through interviews and...

Yeah ignoring the lawsuits booking with that many different women is a huge red flag in itself. Pretty clear he is guilty.

Calvin Ridley got 1 yr for a $1500 bet on his day off, and Watson is still expected to play at some point next season? This is wild man...NFL's morals are all out of whack. I still cant believe Watsons agent finessed $230 million from the Browns, that's an all time L for the organization right there.

There were many more teams that put in a bid for Watson. This is an NFL issue. They've had 10 months to address this matter. IMHO the NFL has a new stain on their logo.

The more information that comes forward, I don't see how he takes the field in the 2022 season. If almost 40% of the 66 known therapist had an issue with this guy. Who knows what happened with the ones not speaking and/or not included in that 66 and 17 month time period.Mamba Mentality wrote:Calvin Ridley got 1 yr for a $1500 bet on his day off, and Watson is still expected to play at some point next season? Re: Deshaun Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
Yeah knowing there were 66 massage appointments in 17 months, its pretty obvious he wanted to have sex with them all. I have no idea if he exposed himself inappropriately to them/made any unwanted contact, but it seems likely he did. That said, I still have no idea how to deal with issues like these where an athlete (or just anyone, frankly) probably did something "wrong" but it can't be legally proven, and now you're trying to figure out how many games its worth suspending him for.

I just hope this doesn’t turn into a kellen Winslow Jr situation and escalate into something more now that he knows he can get away with this crap. If I was a browns fan I would disown the team

The issue with gambling is that it affects the integrity of the game. As gross as Watson is, his issues don't have anything to do with football. We shouldn't expect the NFL to be equipped to handle moral/legal issues.

I didn't follow the story too closely.
I figured massage parlor, these must be places like the one where Robert Craft got busted in, a place where women were routinely taken advantage of.
But apparently Watson was checking these women out on IG, so they weren't exactly women who fit the stereotype of those who worked in massage parlors.
Makes little sense. He must have had all kinds of groupies available to him at Clemson and with the Texans. But he decides to set up his own "dates" with them because he liked what he saw on IG?
I remember he donated his first paycheck to some employees of the Texans or at the stadium because they had some misfortune.
But something went off the rails or was he always this guy?

Re: Dshaunn Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
Unpopular opinion
The criminal investigation was cleared
Buzbee was the only attorney who would take these cases and just happened to be neighbors with the owner of the Texans.
Seems to me like a case of 2 rich old men going after the young man because he didn't want to play for the Texans anymore.
He received "extra" from these massage parlors, but they are infamous for offering that. You can disagree with that morally and still realize this is nothing but a money grab. He had 66 different appointments, just go offer all of them some money to come testify.

Re: Dshaunn Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
From what I heard, these aren't these rub and tug massage parlors.
He picked out women on Instagram and apparently these women were only offering massages, not extra services.
If these were low-paid women being exploited in those massage parlors, they may not have complained or end up filing suits.
And the Texans helped him get some of these women to sign NDAs apparently.

I just seen 2 more cases were brought against him, bringing the total to 26, not sure if they were part of the original 66 or what.

Re: Dshaunn Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
I haven't followed this very closely, but what exactly are they accusing him of? And did any come forward right when it happened? And are there not criminal proceedings? Are the women and their attorneys not viewing it as criminal action? Just a civil suit and they are suing him for money?
It is alarming there are so many other than the fact that if it's a money thing it makes sense.
I guess I'm unaware if anyone is claiming a crime and they are pressing charges for criminal action.
And he found girls on instagram and asked them to meet up for massages? Or were all of them massage therapists that he tried to find?
Did he apparently force himself on them and rape them or just ask them if they'd like to do more or something in between?
I guess the question is what are the details? I was looking for a video or podcast from one of them women. Anyone have a link to that?

Re: Dshaunn Watson saw 66 massage therapist's
I think any woman with a suit isn't going to do a podcast, not before their case proceeds.
The details will come out if the cases go to trial and they go to depositions and testimony.
It could be litigation because he's rich. But the only thing I've heard is that he exposed himself to them, presumably made unwanted advances.
So maybe stuff like Harvey Weinstein was accused of.
It seems likely he was seeking more than just a massage so if he was soliciting sex it would mean a large number of them objected and maybe many accommodated him but we're not hearing about those cases.
If he was nobody, maybe the women would just dismiss him as a clown and not think about him again, something they have to deal with periodically.
But since he is somebody, they can make a lot of noise. In the case of Weinstein, he was the boss of these women, gave them major roles in his movies, so he had power over them and they had to tolerate him to a certain extent.
There's a difference in sexual harassment between someone who has a professional relationship (employer to employee or boss to a subordinate) vs. maybe some random clown that accosts when at a night club or some other venue.
If Watson promised or implied that he'd pay them a big fee or tip for having sex with him, he'd have some legal jeopardy if it was one or two cases but dozens of cases is more problematic.
He's a public figure so even one case could force the NFL to sanction him.
He may have to settle, pay a large sum to each plaintiff to make the cases go away. Worst thing is if these cases go to trial and details become public, over and over again. It would be bad for him, the Browns and the NFL.
In fact, if he paid off the plaintiffs a year ago, before all this bad publicity, he might have gotten away without a suspension.

I think sexual misconduct/sexual assault, there are so many different cases so I'm sure it all varied. I guess some maybe he pulled his genitals out, others it seems like maybe he like rubbed his genitals on their arm or leg making it seem like an accident, heck he may straight up have asked for a "happy ending" I don't really know.
I'm not sure on the timing from all 26 accusers and counting, allegedly it was over a 17 month period of time, they all are being represented by the same lawyer.
Watson was cleared of any wrongdoing in the eyes of the law by 2 seperate Texas grand jurors, not enough evidence, I believe, to bring charges. Therefore, now only left with the civil court route.
To my understanding, all 66 were massage therapists (he seen some multiple times), he had 18 come out to support him saying either there was only massage services rendered or if there were sexual acts, they were consensual. That still leaves an extra 20+ who haven't said anything one way or the other.

It's interesting. Even if he did ask for a happy ending it's inappropriate but hardly that big of a deal. Guys ask girls if they'd like to have sex all the time I'm sure and they don't get sued. And many or possibly most masseuses want you to strip all the way down.
It's just a very strange case. Is it worse than that guy that got filmed punching his girl in the elevator? I don't think so as that was clearly a crime of assault. If he was cleared by two Texas grand jurors in the eyes of the law, meaning they don't think he did anything illegal, I don't really see how the NFL could have any real good actual basis for punishing him because girls are suing him.
But I don't have that much information.

Yeah, with Harvey Weinstein, being someone's boss or holding a movie role over someone's head or someone, or working at a tv station and a position of authority, anything at work is far worse because it puts them in a really bad situation.
But here any woman seems they could tell him to F off unless they were straight up forced into something.
While in general I think people likely get away with sexual assault too often this one seems pretty strange to me...it always has. I may be missing some details but every time I ask no one has anything.
There were obvious details from the girl in the Kobe case. It was quite obvious he raped her. This sounds like it was probably inappropriate at times but perhaps more like unwanted sexual advances which happen all the time.

The information is spotty and incomplete for sure.
I think under the personal conduct policy, they could just be like, man you're doing sketchy stuff to 26 different people, making the league look bad, sit down for another season. I think versus someone who gets in trouble for domestic might be like a one off or maybe two times. I just think the pure volume of accusers is what makes the NFL have to think carefully on how they react.
I've only had 2 massages ever in my life, one at a parlour and one at the masseuse apartment, both times I wore underwear, I'm not sure what the standard protocol is though lol
