League had them over coals. If they didnt make a trade, they'd have to pay him like 20 mill. Deshaun Watson will end up playing this season, most likely, whether it's 6 or 8 games in and Baker isnt significantly better than Jacoby Brissett to justify paying that much money. This was basically the best they could do

Basically a risk free move for Carolina. I'm a firm believer that Bakers best football is still ahead of him.

Easily the best QB they've had since before Cam lost it. THey needed to do something to get Mccafrey some help while he's still in his prime.

As for the Browns, the clown show continues. When their current QB gets suspended for the year (and he will or the NFL will get completely lambasted), they will once again trot out a scrub at QB. Then they get Watson back after 2 years of not playing football and guess what, he'll suck too. Then they'll blow another high draft pick on a bad QB.

If it wasn't for the Lions, they easily take the award for most inept franchise in sports.

Baker is pretty irrelevant tbh, he looked good his rookie year but hasn't shown a whole lot since (he has been injured a lot, to be fair). But he's what, like the 20th best QB? Its more like low risk, low/mediocre reward. Panthers are still a pretty distant 3rd or 4th in that division.

Who cares if the NFL will get lambasted. They have an independent arbiter who's only priority is making sure the punishment fits the evidence presented. Watson will almost certainly play this year, and if Brissett can hold the line over the first 6-8 games, they can absolutely win the superbowl. Browns are inept, but they have been absolute garbage for 50 years and have put themselves in a position to win one over the next 3 years. This is the best shot theyve had in decades

They signed Jacoby Brissett. They’re hoping to God Watson only gets 8 games. If that happens, Brissett can keep the ship from sinking by going 4-4. Our first 4 games are soft.
