That trade probably cost the 49ers a Superbowl, but hard to be angry over it when they've made it to back to back NFC Championships

Whiner fans have lowered their expectations. Instead of Super Bowl or bust, its O.K. if you go and lose back to back NFC Championship games.

They will get that money back in leverage in Daks negotiation.
Even if Lance never plays a snap for Dallas you can’t really fault this trade.
The 4th round pick was probably going to be used on a developmental qb anyways.

I'd be willing to bet any amount of money Purdy is never winning a super bowl. Lynch should be fired tomorrow for this

Jimmy was a decent starter for them. But they just went after the wrong guys.

That's about as dumb and inaccurate an explanation I've ever seen.

1) Tyreke Hill was traded for 5 picks, not just the SF pick
2) Waddle was acquired by packaging the 49ers #12 and a future 1st
3) Chubb and Tyreke were acquired knowing that each player would receive mega deals, with Chubb getting $110M and Hill getting $120M (which SF obviously wouldn't have paid due to having too many highly paid players already). Also, Chubb is looking like a terrible contract, not that it has anything to do with SF, but weird to see someone bragging about it.


If you're curious about who was picked in the 49ers actual draft slots traded, here you go:

2022, pick #29 by NE - Cole Strange, Guard (you've probably never heard of him, started for NE last year in and "up and down" season, according to anaylsts)
2022, pick #102 by MIA- Channing Tindall, DE (5 tackles in his rookie season)
2023, pick #29 by NO - Brian Bresee, DT (let's see)

btw, the #102 pick was a compensatory pick for a minority coach being hired by another team.


SF would of course much rather have those picks in hindsight. Objectively, they got poor value due to the way things worked out.

But we all now about the work John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have done. They've put together arguably the most talented roster in the league only six years after starting with probably the worst roster in football.

It's great that Toots fans are having fun slamming the 49ers for taking a swing at a QB. But the thing is, SF can afford to take a swing and a miss because their team is so stacked, and they won't even feel it. I think we'll see that again when SF plays Seattle, just like last year and beat them by a collective score of 89-43 while sweeping them in three games.

I am happy they got something.

Imagine if the Seahawks drafted their franchise QB (on a $750k salary nonetheless) and were then able to offload Geno Smith. It would be great, considering the lack of leverage they had in the situation.
