Eli Manning is a HOF Finalist in his first year of eligibility.

In my opinion, he shouldn't be in the HOF at all; definitely not first ballot.

Not first ballot, but eventually he gets in.

No. His last name might help him though.

I cannot stand Eli Manning the player. Stupid ass dumb face mouth breather. He was clutch AF in 2 playoff runs though. He doesn’t have to have the best numbers or play the longest to be eligible for the Hall of Fame. He’s the only QB to beat the Patriot juggernaut twice in the SB. And he’s a 2x SB MVP. If that’s not Hall of Fame worthy then there are A LOT of guys including some of all of favorite players that shouldn’t be in either.

Eli never received a mvp vote during his career.
He was consistently good but not great.
Not HOF worthy IMO.

I'd struggle to even call him consistently good. He had some pretty terrible seasons. If you look at his numbers from his first 4 season, it's kind of surprising he still had a job in 2008 when he made his first Super Bowl run. He had some decent seasons, but never a great season. Basically he had longevity and two great playoff runs.

If you look back in history, one of the indicators of of making it into hall of fame is multiple first team all-pro selections, especially on the first ballot.

Eli doesn't have a single first team or second team selection, and only four pro bowl selections.

The superbowl MVPs help, but many non-HOFers have superbowl MVPs.

I think he'll eventually get in, but definitely not on first ballot.

I've always felt both Mannings won their two SB's more on their defenses than their own performances.

Peyton obviously in his Denver win...but even though he was fine against Chicago I felt the defense really won that game(five takeaways and one was for a Schaub-six).

Their running game was also good(almost 200 yds rushing and a TD).

The Colts had a pretty good kicker at that time, too.

He's obviously a HOF All-Time bad mofo, though.

Eli - he didn't play defense against those insane Patriot offenses, and I do remember David Tyree and his magical super-glue helmet catch...but there is also this:

Also, I am happy to find this still exists: https://www.manningface.com/

How do you compare Manning to someone like Terry Bradshaw?

Bradshaw wasn't first ballot, It took him 5 tries. Bradshaw was graded based on the era he played in.

Eli should get in, eventually, but not on first ballot.

Bradshaw also won an MVP.

Based on this list, there are two obvious selections: Gates and Suggs: stats + longevity. I would argue Kuechly is definitely a first ballot even though he only played 7 seasons.

after that it's a toss-up.

Vinatieri would be the 2nd ever first ballot selection as kicker. His career achievements are comparable to Jan Stenerud. If there's ever one that deserves it it's probably him, but he's probably on the fence.

A guy who doesn’t get discussed enough and didn’t make the finalists is Kevin Williams, 5-time first team All-Pro.

Very true
Imagine a guy being all pro for half a decade not getting enough recognition.
And here we are discussing a guy who didn’t get even one.

If Eli Manning gets in before Eric Allen I'm gonna write a sternly worded email to Canton.

Eric Allen definitely deserves to be in the HOF so does Darren Woodson.

Should he be?

- Yeah… I guess. There are others with worse credentials in.

Should he be a 1st ballot entry?

- Hell no!!!

Will he be a 1st ballot entry?

- Probably. Because that East Coast media thing is real.
