I was being a bit sarcastic since it is usually such a huge mess, but yes, I would love to know their current cap situation.

Okay, well first off, depending on who you want to believe, the Redskins have just around $6 Million in Salary Cap Space:
$6.493M according to skinsfans.com
and
$6.235M according to askthecommish.com

For other info on the contract of players, the only reliable site that I could find was skinsfans.com.

Right now, since it's the offseason, the Rule of 51 is in effect, and only the 51 highest cap hits on the team count towards the cap. Of these players, Shawn Springs, Chris Samuels, Cornelius Griffin, Marcus Washington, Clinton Portis, Jon Jansen, Randy Thomas, and London Fletcher have significant SB Allocations (At or Above $2 Million).

The 3 highest, non-guaranteed, Base-Salaries (I'll refer to these as NGBS from now) are Shawn Springs, Cornelius Griffin and Marcus Washington with the three above $4 Million in non-guaranteed Base-Salaries.

Of the players I mentioned, their future cap situation looks as such:
Shawn Springs: 3 Years left, $6.675M Allocated SB left, $15.875M NGBS left

Chris Samuels: 6 Years left, $8.25M Allocated SB left, $25.95M NGBS left, $5.6M Option Bonus Left, $0.25M Likely to Exceed Bonus left

Cornelius Griffin: 4 Years left, $6.481M Allocated SB left, $17.85 NGBS left

Marcus Washington: 3 Years left, $6.061M Allocated SB left, $12.925 NGBS left

Clinton Portis: 5 Years left, $12.097M Allocated SB left, $28.716M NGBS left, $0.574M Likely to Exceed Bonus left

Jon Jansen: 5 Years left, $8.206M Allocated SB left, $15.732M NGBS left, $5M Option Bonus Left, $0.150M Likely to Exceed Bonus left

Randy Thomas: 6 Years left, $9.762 Allocated SB left, $18.5M NGBS left, $5M Option Bonus Left, $0.2M Likely to Exceed Bonus left

London Fletcher: 5 Years Left, $10.5M Allocated SB left, $14M NGBS left, $0.5 Other Bonus Left

Those are some of the top guys on the Redskins' Payroll.

There's also DeadCap that the Redskins are carrying for 2007: $6.587

And 2008: $1.525

As for cuts in 2007, it looks like Renaldo Wynn and Todd Collins who are prime targets, as them being cut (either before or after June 1). That would save around $3.75M.

There are a couple of key players who could be cut after June 1. Primarily Clinton Portis and Shawn Springs which could save them around $8.3M in capspace, but I'd imagine they'd rather keep those two players rather than sign anyone else that might be available.

I could see them cutting Springs, he is a replacable CB imo. Portis on the other hand, not so much. If Portis is healthy he can be a top 5 back in this league.

:o D*mn JKim, I'm impressed. I will hit you up again as teh season draws closer. I don't think it would be Homerism to say that the way the Skins approach to the cap is one of the most...shall we say "unique" it might actually be of interest for the rest of the board.

When I researched this, I was actually surprised at how little Deadcap that the Redskins had. Considering their liberal spending, I thought they'd be in at least 8 figures for their Deadcap. I'm actually surprised that by next season they'll only have around 1.5 Mil in deadcap...
I guess they really do know their stuff inside and out.
