Would a Samuel/Briggs deal work?

Post#1 » by Gibbs » Thu Apr 5, 2007 9:56 pm

Samuel and Pats 1st

For

Briggs and Bears 1st

Is this a realistic deal to happen, both unhappy with contract situations and management.

Note: No trade board so where do I post potential trade ideas like this?

Judging by the Patriots' moves, I don't think they'd trade for Briggs, considering that he'd want a hefty amount of money...

Not really, Bears already have a lot of decent CBs and the Pats signed Thomas to be their big money OLB.

I completely forgot that Thomas had signed with the Pats...

Either way, that deal isn't happening.

Briggs and Thomas would be one of the top linebacker combos in the L, but neither Briggs in a 3-4 or Samuel in the Cover 2 fit in the systems. So I dont think it would work.

Yes Briggs would not be a great fit, I'm sure he would do ok, just because he is a good LB, but they need pass rushing LB's.

For some reason a lot of people thing a Samuel-to-Washington deal would make sense.

I could see a trade with Washington since their always looking to make moves and they seem to be willing to move their 1st in a deal. I could also see a deal with the Saints since Samuel would fill their biggest need.

No way that happens. Neither team would be interested. Doesn't fill any needs at all.

Just because the pats showed some green this offseason, doesnt mean they will start making fantasy trades. It really doesnt make sense for both teams.

who are 4 CBs better than him? Samuel held his own against the Colts which solidified himself as a top CB

Bailey
Pacman
Clements
Asomugha
Hall
Winfield
McAlister

Are all cb's I would want over Asante. I think Asante is a solid above average corner than had a good season. He's not worth the money he wants and the Pats know it.

I personally think there's at least 4-5 better CBs in the AFC alone.

How are you rating samuel? Hopefully not just because of picks. I like asante, but I have seen him get burnt just as much as I have seen him shut down WR's. Asante is a average-good corner back, but he is not a shutdown corner and does not deserve shut down corner money.
