What if...

Post#1 » by Pierce 4 3 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 10:46 pm

...you had the number one pick, who would you draft? And I'm saying who would you draft for your favorite team not drafting for the raiders, unless they're your favorite team.

P.S. Say who the name of the team you're drafting for.

Cowboys - Calvin Johnson

Our receivers are aging and he's one of if not the best WR prospect ive ever seen.

Joe Thomas, Jamarcus Russell, and Gaines Adams would warrant a look too.

Brady Quinn. We need a young QB in Baltimore

Me too for the pats.

Joe Thomas or LaRon Landry could be options too

Thomas - have him to RT and have Matt Light on the other side which would be nasty
Landry - Harrison and Wilson = Injury prone, so need help at safety
Johnson - doesn't need an explanation

You'd give a safety the #1 pick?...

anyway for the Jets, I'd probably draft Calvin Johnson...

Other mentionable: Gaines Adams, Brady Quinn, Jamarcus Russell

Almost every team would go with Johnson,

Every other team would take Russell or trade down 3-4 picks

Yes i would give a safety a number one pick because the pats desperately need help in their secondary, so Landry would be the perfect pick

But most likely i would take Johnson

I understand you'd need help in the secondary, but wouldn't you rather trade down, get Hall or Revis, then take Weddle in the second round?

The Chargers would take Calvin Johnson. I wish there was some way to move up for him but I don't think it's possible. I'd also take a look at Laron Landry, Patrick Willis, and possibly Gaines Adams.

calvin johnson is a no brainer. i do like jamarcus russell but im not sold on him. yea he is a big guy and he got a great arm but im not too sure about his decision making and other stuff. he isnt like the sure thing but hes pretty darn good. brady quinn isnt too bad. i think he will be a decent nfl qb but it would be absurd to pick him #1 overall. calvin johnson will be a superstar in the league. he has everything you want in a receiver. he can change the whole dimension of the offense. i can see him being better than randy moss in his prime.

Are there many rumors about Oakland trading down a bit? If they go down to 4 they could still get Russell or Quinn, and at worst have to settle for Peterson or Thomas. Say they drop to 7 to the Vikings who are needing WR help big time. They could get an extra 2nd and a lower pick next year and still get someone who fills their immediate needs. Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Amobi Okoye, Joe Thomas and Adrien Peterson all fit a need for them and one of them will be there. They could draft Johnson and only complete the deal if one of their guys is there. They can still take a flier on a QB later, sign a Kitna-esque veteren for the year and have a real stud at WR.

St. Louis - Calvin Johnson. Although we have one of the best receiving cores in the league (Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Drew Bennett, Randy McMichael, Steven Jackson) I'd STILL TAKE THIS GUY. No real glaring holes on the O-line especially with pace and barron at T, so Joe Thomas is a no no. Bulger is a top 5 QB so Russell and Quinn are out. Safety is a concern but Landry would not be a good value pick with the #1. Holt is 31, Bruce is 331. So CJ is the pick IMO.
