Tim Couch? Are you f**king kidding me?

Post#1 » by PhilipNelsonFan » Mon Jul 30, 2007 7:15 am

Of all possible quarterbacks to go after, you go after one of the worst in the last decade?? What's Jacksonville thinking?

I know they're paying him the minimum if that, but it's still not gonna work, so why even bother? Why not pay someone who can actually play?

he's fighting for the third string QB spot... i think he's a fine third string QB... i don't think it's too ridiculous... it's not like they are trying him out as a 1st string.

I always said about Couch that if he ever got a shot playing behind a good OL he could be a decent starter. But from what I've heard his shoulder isn't anywhere near what it was before Chris Palmer tried to get him killed. I wish him luck--he got a raw deal in Cleveland, though he didn't help himself either.

Another way to read this--David Garrard is on the outs in JAX.

Tim was suppose to come to Atlanta today for a work out. Tim actually could of had a shot at playing more downs with Atlanta, but I guess he opted to take the money from the Jags the minute they made a offer, not a bad move by Tim.

Wow, ummm from all I have heard they are bringing him in to be an extra arm for camp. Currently the Jags have Leftwich, Garrard, Gray, and Lester Richards on the team. At the moment Quinn Gray is injured so they just brought in an extra arm till he gets better. The Jags signed him to a two year deal, none of which is guaranteed, which i think they did just in case there is some chance that he does play half way decent. So calm down there buddy, its not like he was brought in to compete with Leftwich, he is jsut there to bring the fourth quarterback (yes fourth) and a camp fodder.

More Money, and better situation. With Garrard on the outs (as per Icness), Couch would have a better shot at becoming a #2 QB there, and an outside (Very long) shot at becoming a #1, with a better Offense (in every regard), as opposed to Atlanta, where Vick may come back, and he may be the #2 in an offense with a worse O-Line, WRs and Run Game.

And we haven't even mentioned Akili Smith yet.

I view Couch similarly to David Carr, although Carr is better. Couch mainly suffered from a lack of support around him. Couch might not be great, but he is not one of the worst QBs of the last decade, and is certainly qualified to be a backup in this league.

Kyle Boller is worse than Tim Couch
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

No, Tim Couch is imo, similar to a David Carr. He was a bust, but could be a average-above average starting QB in the NFL.

Akili was mostly put in terrible situations. He was mostly behind an offensive line who would be the world's greatest matadors.

Couch has had a lot go wrong for him... arm troubles, poor cast/FO, poor line... victim of some of the worst circumstances. I think if he's finally 100% healthy, hes a good backup QB. Better than Garrard, too.

Hope he sticks, he could have a Maddox-like 30-something playoff run...

How'd you get that "nfl analyst" tag by your name??

As for Couch. He's horrible, he'll probably be cut soon so this is really a non-issue.
