Pick-Up Football

Post#1 » by Monkeyfeng06 » Mon Sep 3, 2007 7:55 am

i know everyone here plays pick up football with their friends. what position do you normally play?

my positions:

Offense:

Quarter Back - i have decent accuracy and knows most plays. i also have decent speed and agility for a QB. my weakness would be my arm strength. i'm jeff garcia.

Possession Recevier
- if some other player is better than me at throwing the ball, i become a possession receiver. my speed is alright but i can read coverage pretty well and i have great hands. i'm TJ Houshmandzadeh ;)

Defense:

Safety (free) - i don't have the fastest speed so man on man coverage can be deadly to me. i love reading plays so i like to be safety. normally i will be the one picking off the ball or defending broken coverage. i'm ed reed in my game

*time to brag!

Offense

Power Back - I'm definitely not the biggest guy, but I always end up playing this role. I just run over everyone. Maybe I'm just stronger relative to my friends

Defense

Middle Linebacker - Again, probably has something to do with me being stronger, but I always end up playing against the run, and some coverage as well. I love it when I get to blitz though.

Offense:
QB - Not a strong arm, but can make some plays.
WR - Possession, I go deep once in a while (this is what I usually play)

Defense:
CB - I'm not strong enough to play LB
FS - Same reason as CB, but I can tackle when they get to me, just not consistently.

I liked to play lineman on both sides of the ball. Sometimes I would be a running back or a linebacker. I am not very big but I have good technique and know how to use leverage to the best of my advantage. When I played running back it was more of screens tosses and sweep variety of run plays. One thing I loved to do was a good stiff arm to the chest running at full speed.

usually when I play football with my friends its 2 on 2 or 3 on 3. Rotate between quaterback and WR, blitzer and corner back. If I am the WR and the ball is in my area, I put my body on the line by diving. Rarely do I miss a pass if it is close to me. I am always quite big so it takes 2 or 3 people to take me down. On D, I can run with everyone though if you told me to run 5 miles I probaly couldn't do it but during a game I feel I have unlimited energy. When I tackle I just do flimsy arm tackles because I seriously think if I did I real tackle I'd hurt one of my friends.

We don't have RB's when we play, so I have to play a WR. I usually catch a short pass or two and run over people. That doesn't work when I play with black people cause they big enough to jack me up.

On defense, I play corner and have to cover a bigger receiver most of the time. I can stay with small speedy guys, but I am not trusted with covering them.

How many positions are there in pick-up football? Like 4. On offense you're either QB or receiver. On Defense you're either a corner or the guy who counts to 5 banana before rushing the QB.

Offense

Tight End - I've got pretty good hands, I rarely drop a pass.

Defense

Nose Tackle - I usually only play this position if we have a big game (8v8 and so on).

Mike Linebacker - I like to patrol the middle of the field.

then i play the elementary kind b/c its just a qb and wr's and then cb's and then maybe a guy who plays safety.

im randy moss, yep i play when i want to usually i let 1st down go to my teammates as me and my opponent take time to rest. normally half ass 2nd down then i start playing on 3rd and 4th down. sometimes my hands are fantastic and you can throw my bombs all day. others i struggle to catch 5 yard routes.

as for qb im ok, cant throw that far sometimes im deadly accurate though.

on defense i play corner and just cover someone similar to my size i can normally stay with them.

You need more friends then.

We usually have enough to play 9-on-9 or 10-on-10, so we'll have enough for four linemen. I love playing the line, but I'm not altogether big in comparison to the other guys that play, so I'm usually stuck as a wingback or receiver.

I played pick up football once with a bunch of random white people(I'm asian) and they divided up the teams by speed. Like, they put all the fast people on one team(also the small people, because that's relative or something) and the fat, slower people on the other team(where I was put, becasue I'm asian and was taller/bigger than everyone I assume).

Needless to say, it was like third down or something and naturally the other team is all deep. I run a short route, caught the ball and just ran by the one kid that was trying to tackle me. He didn't move an inch until I was in the endzone.

I ended the day with like, three TDs, no tackles(I just jumped out of a lot. ) a couple of dropped balls(this was in Chicago, in like November and I was wearing shorts and tshirt. Terrible idea) and one great defensive play(I was a terrible DB -_-)

I hadvn't played pick up since I actually joined my school's football team...

I've played in 9 on 9 games. That just means 8 receivers. What kind of freak wants to play offensive line?

What kinda freaks play 8 WR's? You must play in Mike Martz backyard.

I'm the perfect tight end. thats what i was in high school/along with Left Tackle. Good hands, i love to block, pretty fast. reliable. Heath Miller is a good comparison.

On defense i'm safety. My coverage skills are average but i will get you down on the ground if i get my hands around you, and i love to hit. Like my boy Rodney Harrison. I also have a really reallly good vertical, with my height. I like being hte last line of defense.

I loved/love playing offensive line, and i'm not fat. It was my favorite thing. When i was tight end i would love stopping those annoying defensive ends, they wouldnt stop talking but when you just stuffed them at the line or tripped them when the ref wasnt looking, they would.

Being on the offensive line was so satisfying.

Offense:

WR/TE: I'm usually reliable enough to pass the ball too. When I know I'll have trouble getting open, I try to make a play for my other WR (s), by being a decoy. I'm also a very good blocker on the run. And I amd not reliable holding onto the football.

Defense:

DB/LB: I prefer coverage, since I'm not the quickest on the field, but never the slowest. I'm a reliable tackler downfield, and will give physical man-to-man.

We play with one guy protecting the QB and I'm normally that guy. When things break down up the field I double as a recieving threat.

Call me Chris Cooley. Cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Quarterback cuz I'm really tall and my arm is kinda strong. I also hate getting tackled...
