High School Football...

I was wondering if anyone else here is a fan of high school football or if they played in high school.
Also I was putting this up b/c the top 2 high school teams in the country will be playing tonight. Though the biggest matchup between Miami and the DFW area is tomorrow when the Cowboys play at Miami but tonight the Southlake Carroll Dragons will be playing the Miami Northwestern Bulls at SMU's Gerald Ford Stadium.
The Dragons lost there coach this past year to North Texas (Todd Dodge) but they're 80-1 in there past 81 games including backtoback state titles. Though there head coach is gone they're lead by QB Riley Dodge who was a Texas commitment but changed it so he could play for his dad. There runningback (and probably there only blackguy on the team) is Tre Newton son of former All Pro NFL lineman (and drug dealer) Nate Newton. Other notable former SL Dragons are Chase Daniels (QB at Missouri) and Greg McElroy (backup QB at Alabama)
this team is awesome as ive seen them knock out my former high school the past 4 years and if you dont play perfect you will get killed.
Miami Northwestern has 3 guys in ESPN's top 150 recruits who are all committed to Miami.
the game will be on ESPNU at 6 P.M (i think they picked the wrong day to shocase this game) so if you have that channel i suggest you give it a look to see these 2 teams play.
here's a couple articles about the game and a blog that will be updated for the game periodically:

Teh high school I graduated from has won two games in the past 4 years. We scored 5 TD's last season in total.
We were pathetic.

My team won by a combined 150-0(points) in our first three games, only to muster 10 (offensive yards) in our last game.
Needless to say, we're 4-0.
Go Dolphins.

I used to watch high school football when I was in high school (last year) but now i just find it weird to watch younger kids play football on television. I still love it though.

I'm a senior in HS and I'm on my school's newspaper, so going to games is pretty big on my agenda.
My school is ranked in the Top 10 in the county, and we outscored our opponents 94-0 in the first two games, only to lose 47-27 on Friday night (now we're 2-1).
Last season we had the leading rusher in the county: Myles Russ (over 1800 yds), but he graduated and went to Robert Morris U (had 89 yds and 2 TDs yesterday).
We also had 3 DI signers last year: 1 to Rutgers (Robinson "Obie" Alexis, redshirted to get bigger), 1 to FSU (AJ Ganguzza, redshirted to get bigger, was told he'd be starting C next season), and 1 to South Florida (Mike McGowan, greyshirted, won't report to campus until January).
This season my school expects to see at least 5 DI signees: Louisville (Nate Nord, 6'4 240, 4.6 speed, TE, already verbally committed), Rutgers, Pitt, UCF, FSU.
Go Bulls!

I played pee-wee (starting right guard), middle-school (starting right guard & starting defensive-end, we won city championship 8th grade), freshman HS (starting Fullback, undefeated District), JV (starting Fullback, but we sucked since half our team was in varsity), Junior year (starting Varsity fullback) & senior year (starting outside LB). Started every game, every year, never missed one game.
I made some all-district 1st and second teams, honorable mention city team. I miss playing.

Btw...
Southlake Carroll freaking lost... after 49 in a row, one shy of the state record, they lost to Miam Northwestern last night 29-22. That sucked.

yea its always cool to see if kids from your school can make something of themselves, we've had players go to texas, arkansas, clemson, tulsa, houston and a bunch of small schools.
we have a guy named dan buckner who's going to UT and he's about 6'4 and runs a 4.5 he's huge and has all the tools. supposedly charlie weis offered him a scholarship on the spot but mack browns money probably swayed him the other way. his attitude could get in the way though.
as for SL Carroll i didnt go b/c i watched the alabama game but my dad said both teams looked pretty sloppy and florida's team was a lot faster which isnt a surprise. SL Carroll capitalizes on mistakes and is a very disciplined system. i bet if todd dodge was still there they dont lose this game.
and im fully aware of how good football is in florida half the SEC comes from there.

I was very disappointed to see Myles end up going to Rob Morris, but he actually had that higher on his list than most DI schools.
I'm hoping that he makes something out of himself (football career wise), he's a great player and a great kid.

Started playing organized football in 3rd grade.
9th grade--starting TE and OLB on frosh team, we were lousy
10th grade--started the season as the starting JV QB and backup JV OLB. By game 3 of the season I was starting at QB for the varsity thanks to injuries. I was bad, the team was worse. My first start we lost 77-6.
11th grade--had decent success as the starting TE before I got hurt in a loss in our 4th game.
12th grade--moved back to my hometown and spent my senior year in the same conference as Orlando Pace, Steve Tovar, Raymont Harris, Brian Demarco and Mike Vrabel, who moved after that year (his & Pace's freshman years). My team finished a surprising 4-6-1. I played in just the last 5 games after I broke my collarbone over the summer.
When I still lived in the Cleveland area I closely followed HS football, but since I moved from there it's kinda dropped off my radar. I did ref HS football in Virginia for a couple of years though. It's just real hard to stay interested when you have no local rooting interest.

Yeah, ND definitely offered him. Really tough to pull kids out of Texas to go north though.
And is that Miami team that just won the school with Marcus Fortson? He's going to be really, really good.

I played when I was in high school. This year Arrowhead has outscored their opponents 165-6 and are ranked #1 in the state by the AP.
