I have had this theory for quite a while, and I have finally decided to put it in writing:

During the 1999 season, Doug Flutie started the first 15 games for the Buffalo Bills. He led them to a 10-5 record, and a spot in the playoffs.

He was undoubtedly the heart of that team, and the entire city rallied behind him.

Then, in Game 16, Mr. Fat (Wade Phillips), decided to bench Flutie and start Rob Johnson. This was a customary measure, as the Bills had nothing to gain from the last game. They would be the #5 seed (top Wild Card in the AFC), regardless of the outcome.

Rob Johnson had an amazing game, and they beat the Colts (who also had nothing to play for!!!!)

In one of the most inexplicable, most outrageous decisions in the history of sports, the Bills decided to start Johnson in their playoff game the next week. This was an unprecedented move, one for which there are no comparisons.

Predictably, the Bills were horrible on offense during their game. They were shutout in the 1st half, and scored a total of 16 points against the Tennessee Titans.

This was the 'Music City Miracle' game.

Since that game, the Bills are the only AFC team not to have made the playoffs. There is no hope for their future. In all likelihood, they will be moved out of Buffalo before they have a chance to get good again.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up this point before. But Ralph Wilson (who was behind the benching of Flutie), is directly responsible for cursing his franchise. This miserable old man will die before he sees his Bills make the playoffs again.

Bills were cursed waaaaaaay before flutie.

(But I agree, Wade Phillips is an idiot. Even at my young age of 12, watching the Bills because of coverage rights, I wondered why he was putting in Rob Johnson over Doug Flutie)

And i thought it was the curse of Ray finkel i mean Scott Norwood.

And your're right it's amazing no one has brought this up before.

wow, the more i look at it the more i ralize this is true, and i don't understand why it has never been mentioned before because curses like this are usually mentioned and broken down and discussed on sportscenter lol. but that is crazy after you realize it.

you might've found the right QB and it is not Losman. I am watching the Jets Bills game and Trent Edwards is looking very solid so far. His accuracy is looking great so far, nice arm, he is making very smart decisions, and the pressure really isn't bothering him too much so far. If Edwards does good, leads Bills to a victory what happens to Losman?

Even though Edwards was a steal in the 3rd round last year and he's looked good in his limited playing time I'm not sold on him.

As for Losman I don't see him in Buffalo next year.

Sounds like you dont want to give any of these guys time to develope?

I know those media types like to spew cliched rhetoric about how you need to give time to your QBs, but it's true.

The Bills never gave JP Losman an offensive system to work with for an extended period of time, IMO.

Edwards is impressing me very much so far. But i agrei, i don't see Losman in Buffalo next season either.

J.P. Losman has had time to develop but I honestly believe he wasn't put in the right positions to succeed.

Just from watching this game Steve Fairchild has been more aggressive and creative with Trent Edwards a rookie than Losman.

Like I said I like Edwards but I'm just being guarded with my expectations.
