Browns say Pats are classless

Browns left guard Eric Steinbach called Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel "classless" yesterday, alleging Vrabel dived at the knees of the Browns' top draft choice, left tackle Joe Thomas, on a spike play that Cleveland ran with 11 seconds left in the game. Following the game, several Browns had words for Vrabel, a former Ohio State star. Yesterday, Steinbach said Vrabel, who declined to speak with the media yesterday when approached, should be fined.
Will someone please take a huge shot at one of their star players already?
Give them a taste of their own medicine.

At first these rumors or player quotes seemed legit but now its getting out of hand. This stuff goes on a lot for every team. Quit whining and playing like sissies. If you chose to play this sport at a pro level, you should expect this.
It seems like some teams most notably in the AFC have a personal vandetta against the Pats. Jelousy, in other words.

Diving at a player's knees on a spike play is about as low as it gets in football. I didn't see the play so I don't know if it actually happened, but if it did, that's not something to just brush off like a normal football play.
But the title should be "Eric Steinback calls Mike Vrabel classless."

I saw the play, and when it happened I remember thinking that Vrabel had stumbled and fell, it didnt look like he dove at anyones knees. The guy that said Vrabel was dirty also said that Vrabel had never done a dirty thing in their previous games, and his own teammate claimed that he doubted Vrabel did it on purpose. I think this guy is just whining because they got stomped.

Vrable is a little whacko, dont know if he's quite in the class of a Bill Romanowski but he may be close. I didnt see the play either but it made the newswire so it isnt someone on an internet forum trying to start some crap. Whether it's a big name rookie or a stiff you dont go after them on a spike play. I guess everything falls under the category of its just football but it should be frowned on whether it's the Raiders, Broncos or even the almighty Pats.
On a sidenote teams dont retaliate anymore, you get your QB blindsided it used to be immediate payback, now they're hugging each other out there.

You should have been on a game thread with Browns fans. Just about everyone thought it was a cheapshot although I didn't think anyone viewed it as a cheap shot at Thomas. It's a spike play. How the heck does Vrable come in after the play (if you see it you'll notice that nobody else was moving any longer) and not only hit Thomas but hit Anderson as well. It almost started a brawl and at the very least there should have been a 15 yd penalty on that play. Sure he might have been clumsy, but man did it look dirty.

First off, who ever wrote that article/edits whatever medium that came from needs to go back to English class

Dove, morons, dove.
Secondly, this is almost a weekly story now, so either deal with it on the field when you next see them or shut up. We get it, the Pats are classless, get in line.

Two thoughts here:
1. Steinbach said what he needed to say to rally his mates, keep them inspired. They played a very competitive game for the most part and this is a team desperately trying to develop an identity of toughness and unity. IMO this was as much Steinbach sending a message to his teammates as it was complaining about Vrabel's questionable action.
2. I give Vrabel the benefit of the doubt, he's earned it. It helps that I know him a bit and know a lot of people who know him pretty well. The guy the Browns should be complaining about is Rodney Harrison, who was back to his old dirty self Sunday. In a 4-play span, Harrison:
elbowed K2 in the head from behind
forearm shivered Jason Wright in the back well after the whistle
poked K2 in the eye away from the ball (to be fair K2 had facemasked him the prior play)
Harrison also went low (a la Trent Green) on Hank Fraley on an INT return and then glowered over him when Fraley had trouble getting up.

OK, after seeing the video several times on ESPN, there is NO way that Vrabel was "diving" at anyones knees. Its pretty clear in the video that hes stumbling, either because hes clumsy, or more likely because hes being pulled/pushed into the ground by the blocker. Anyone that thinks hes dirty after watching the clip is a complete moron.

Maybe next time Cleveland faces them, just spear the John Wayne Glamourboy Brady in the head. If you wanna really get back at them. Instead of talking about it. And go low blow on Harrison. If you serious at giving them a dose of their own medicine. Probably the only way the Browns can beat them.

Few things are funnier than going off on someone's spelling/usage/grammar and being wrong about it.
