I don't get this move. Chambers is still relatively young and can be part of the rebuilding process for this team into the future. If any of the WRs needed to go, it was Booker.

But, hey a 2nd rounder can get you a real good player in the draft.....

For a 2008 2nd rounder.

Wow, talk about a steal for the Dolphins.

Good that Miami finally realizes that having Chambers in there, without a NFL-calibre QB and a sub-par pass blocking-line is just about useless.
Maybe they're finally trading away all the old pieces that they should really dump.

On the other hand, I haven't seen Chambers get much separation this season (and has generally been a lackluster/horrible WR over the past 2 seasons), and this makes me wonder why San Diego paid a 2nd Rounder for him.

When he's had a QB to throw him the ball, he's been a great WR; see 2 years ago with Gus Frerotte.

Though he does have a tendency to drop the easiest of passes, yet make the impossible catches seem easy. -- That was one of his biggest knocks here.

As a Fin fan for 20 years, Chambers is waaaaaay overrated. Fins got a steal.

I've never been impressed by Chris Chambers. I've always thought of him as a 2nd/3rd WR masquerading as a #1 Option in Miami.

His Stats seem to indicate that as well over the past 5 seasons:

2007: -11.8% DVOA (58th), 1.3 DPAR (56th), 47% Catch Rate
2006: -33.6% DVOA (81st), -19.8 DPAR (82nd), 39% Catch Rate (By far the worst WR in the league... Ouch)
2005: -11.3% DVOA (73rd), 4.2 DPAR (62nd), 49% Catch Rate
2004: -9.2% DVOA (63rd), 5.0 DPAR (57th), 50%
2003: 8.9% DVOA (32nd), 15.1 DPAR (23rd), 49%

I get the fact that he's pretty much been the only option in that offense for the last little while, but those Catch Rates are absolutely horrendous even considering that he was the only option.

Chambers is the Antoine Walker of football; he needs the ball in copious amounts to be productive, yet in doing so loses a great deal of efficiency thus negating whatever productivity he gains. He could never rise above the play of his teammates and was extremely sloppy in fundamentals.

That his most productive season was his rookie year says all you need to know about him. Miami fans should be ecstatic to get a low second rounder for him.

Yes, we did get a steal. A 2nd rounder for Chambers was 2 picks better I thought we could've gotten for him when reports 1st surfaced of possibly moving him a week prior to the season starting.

Yeah, and our QB's haven't been much better either; 9 different starting QB's in ~4 years (Fiedler, Lucas, Huard, Feely, Frerrotte, Griese, Harrington, Lemon, Green).

Even with Green and Frerrotte giving him the ball in the right places, he still managed to drop 'em. -- Like you said, he's more of a 2nd WR, than a 1st.

What befuddles me even more than giving up a 2nd rounder for Chambers is:

Why doesn't San Diego throw to Vincent Jackson more often? Or hell, just make Antonio Gates a WR masquerading as a TE, and throw him the ball 10-12 times a game?

1. Because Norv Turner probably thinks the team is missing a playmaking WR to free up room for BLT and Gates to make plays on a consistent basis

2. Because Norv Turner probably thinks Chris Chambers is that playmaking WR

How did the Patriots get Randy Moss for a 4rth round pick but Chambers went for a 2nd round pick.

The league must look into this

Roger Goodell, fresh off his investigation in crowd noises and turf quality differences, will now focus his attention on whether the New England Patriots cheated by getting Randy Moss for only a 4th rounder.
