What a cheater!!
j/k
When it comes to the NFL's uniform police, no one is above the law. The Boston Globe reported New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been fined for not having his chin strap properly buckled.
Reiss reports that Brady's agent, Don Yee, confirmed the fine but would not say how much Brady was fined or which game the violation occurred in.
This isn't the first such fine for the Patriots this season; defensive lineman Ty Warren was fined $7,500 for not having his chin strap buckled in a Sept. 23 game against the Bills. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said teams were notified before the season and reminded multiple times that the league would be cracking down on unbuckled chin straps as an effort to prevent concussions.

And still nothing on making Riddell Revolution helmets mandatory?
The NFL is awesome, just teeming with hypocrisies.

Well im sure hed get to it but crowd noise is obviously a much more important issue than preventing the players from getting concussions that can cause a lifetime of misery for the player injured.

I really don't see how the two situations are related.

Riddell Revolution helmets are scientifically proven to reduce the concussion rate in football players.

I still don't see how they're related. Because the NFL is slow on accepting a new technology, they can't enforce their uniform policy?

It's not so much the enforcing the uniform policy part, but rather the hypocrisy here, in which they're increasing efforts to prevent concussions and yet have not mandated the Ridell Revolution throughout the league.
It's been scientifically proven, and has been mandated all throughout the High School levels, so why hasn't the NFL mandated this yet?

So if the NFL doesn't use the Riddell helmet, anything they do to reduce concussions makes them hypocrites?

It's not so much the "anything else" part, but rather the "effort to prevent concussions" part that I have a problem with.
Edit: As in, I'm fine and dandy if the NFL tries to make sure that every player has his chin strap buckled in order to prevent concussions. But I'm not fine and dandy if the NFL goes around touting that they're trying to crack down on concussions while not mandating the Riddell Revolution.
Perhaps "Hypocrisy" is too strong of a word.

No, hypocrisy is definitely the right word. This isnt about protecting players and preventing concussions, its about fining players so that they can make more money.

Then the players should voluntarily wear them. But I don't see why it should be mandatory.

My original point was pointing out the hypocrisy (or any other word that accurately fits this description) of the league "trying to crack down on concussions" and yet, not mandating the Riddell helmet.

My only problem with it is that it appears that Riddell is the only producer of this helmet. Sure there are other instances where leagues give producers a monopoly position, but I'm not sure that helmets should be one of them. But, as a player I'd definitely want the helmet that best protects the dome. And, I'm almost positive that they have an option as to which they wear.

Why not? How much different is it than giving Reebok basically all rights over apparel?
I mean, as long as it protects the players' heads better than other helmets out there, why should it matter?
And as far as other options, I haven't seen one yet. But if there are, the league should mandate both and give a choice to the players.

Doesn't the money paid for fines go to an NFL related charity?

Right, 'cause if you add up all the fines for uniform violations over the course of the season, it might be able to buy... well, maybe it could pay a third of the salary of a practice squad punter or something. But add it up over the next 100 or 150 years and we're talking about some seriously swelling coffers!

Oh yeah. That too.
