could be big for the dolphins, im curious if they'll figure out if john beck or cleo lemon is the future or they'll look elsewhere in the draft.

also i pray trent green retires because that guys brains are more scrambled than a baby at an abortion clinic. (my parents didnt like that joke)

Yes he should retire the man is way past his prime and he had a decent yet unheralded career. He did win a ring with the Rams(granted he was injured for the most part) but his time has passed get out now while you still can.

On his replacement:
This shows just how dire the straits are in Miami. They spent a #2 on John Beck insstead of taking Brady Quinn, Kevin Kolb, or Trent Edwards. He's the oldest rookie since Weinke, he's nearly as old as Lemon, but according to a Dolphins guy I know Beck isn't anywhere near ready to play in games yet. They blew a 2nd rounder on a guy with "career backup" written all over him by most scouts, alienated a clearly well-recovered Daunte Culpepper and forced him out, and now they almost have to spend the #1 or #2 pick in the next draft on another QB. This in spite of still having the league's 3rd oldest defense and perhaps the worst secondary in the league, plus no #1 WR, TE, or DT. They're not going to win more than 3 of their next 20 games. I'm really rooting for them to go winless this entire season, if only to prove my case that Nick Saban is the Angel of Death.

very true, personally i am a huge fan of Cleo Lemon and believe if the Dolphins give him a chance than he will develop into a solid starting QB. I think the recent draft the Dolphins had was one of the worst that they will ever have. Ted Ginn and John Beck= big time busts who will be out of league in 3 years.

I actually think Ginn is going to pan out as a decent #2 WR and elite return man. That's not good enough for a #9 overall pick but he belongs as a good building block. To think they could have had Amobi Okoye or Dwayne Bowe or Patrick Willis or Reggie Nelson at that spot--all of whom had much higher draft grades than Ginn

Just to throw more dirt on Beck:
The team I work with had Beck rated below the 3 QBs taken after him, including Jeff Rowe who (rightfully) went in the 5th round. I know some other teams were more bullish on Beck, but the Dolphins had to know that a lot of teams projected Beck as a 4th-5th round talent. Of course this past 2nd round looks chock full of misfit picks, so it's hard to be too tough on Miami...

Like I said, I know some teams and evaluators were pretty bullish on Beck but some teams had him as a 2nd day talent. I know some teams took his advanced age as a real positive, others a huge negative--depends on what a team was looking at him for.

I'm getting the same kind of vibe this year on Colt Brennan--some teams have him as high as a mid 2nd round, but others won't touch him until the middle of day 2. The common denominator is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding what they really bring to the table.

i don't have a problem with how cleo is playing. other that a few dumb throws into double coverage, he hasn't done much wrong. i would like to see beck in before the season is over. he looked good in the preseason but it was against the 2nd teams.

I thought Lemon looked good in the 2nd half against Cleveland, once the Browns started dropping LBs into coverage more and stopped blitzing so much. Lemon has enough zip to get the ball into the holes in the umbrella zone the Browns were playing. But when they were bringing heat and playing more tight man, he was not impressive at all. I did like the way he moved within the pocket, kept looking downfield and showed some elusiveness.
