mike williams visiting with........

Post#1 » by bigrich88 » Wed Nov 7, 2007 3:15 pm

WORKING OUT: The Tennessee Titans worked out wide receiver Mike Williams on Tuesday, but did not sign the former Southern California star on Wednesday, though he could still be on their radar.

Williams, the 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft, was waived last week by the Oakland Raiders after he dropped a fourth-down pass against the Titans two games ago at LP Field on what could have been a game-winning drive.

The Titans have had interest in Williams ever since he became draft eligible, thanks in large part to Williams

No.

Just a flat out no.

I don't want the Titans to ruin the chemistry on the offense and defense that we've got going now.
Plus, the receivers aren't as much of a problem, as the problem is Vince himself.
He's just not taking those wide-open running lanes, and is trying to force way too many passes.
He's (and Norm Chow) got to realize that we've got to make the opponents aware of Vince's running game, to open up the passing game, and for Vince to take the wide-open running lanes.

I know the receivers aren't faring too well with getting separation, but that's also in part due to the fact that opponents don't seem to be as scared of Vince's legs anymore.

3rd string receivers don't ruin your chemistry. If Chow thinks he can get something out of Williams I don't see the problem with giving it a whirl. If there are issues, he's cut.

The Ttitans already have a lazy, slightly cancerous guy in LenDale White, they don't need another one of those in the locker-room, affecting other young players on the team, IMO.

and Lendale White has really ruined the chemistry of this team whille putting together a very good year, and in a current streak of 3 straight 100 yards rushing games. The chemistry is fine right now even with the "cancerous" Lendale White and white is producing and having a solid year. If Williams can produce and change and not be a cancer than why not give it a chance?

You guys really think LenDale has been productive this season?

Maybe his raw data and stats look that way, but I'm just so constantly frustrated by his lack of explosiveness, and lack of effort after the first hit.
His YPC, DVOA and DPAR are all way below starter level RBs in my opinion, and he looks like a change-of-pace/short-yardage situational runner rather than a every-down runner.

As for the "Cancer" comment, you guys are forgetting, just last season, the Titans had a bad environment in the lockerroom. Many people viewed Albert Haynesworth as a huge headache (and to a certain extent he still is, but I'll overlook that fact because he's been playing the DT position to perfection), and we also had Pacman Jones affecting things, as well as LenDale White.
A player or two can really tip the scale in regards to locker-room environment, and I don't want the Titans to risk that by picking up another lazy, headache-inducing player like Mike Williams, especially when they've got a good thing going on right now.

Well Reggie Bush is explosive but has about the same production. (LenDale White this season: 670 yards rushing/receiving, 5 TDs.Reggie Bush 711 yards rushing/ receiving, 5 TDs)
Again it goes to show how overrated the "flashy" plays are. Its the results that matter. Lendale has carried the load and really seems to be the Titans offense right now. (**** you Vince Young). Sorry had to throw that in there, hes still dead to me.

Trade Vince Young for Matt Leinart. Reincarnate the USC Trojans in Tennessee, that would be a site. As far as Williams goes though, if anyone can get through to him its Norm Chow no? Id actually take a chance on him...

At the very least thered be less food for Lendale to eat, which would also help the titans.

On that note, Hire Mike Williams as a "food consultant" and make him live with LenDale!

I am sure that everyone in the Titans locker room follows Keith Bullock's lead, he just seems like a leader.
