After a brief comeback, Priest Holmes is set to announce his retrement from the NFL.
From 2001-2003, Priest was up there as one of the elite (if not the best) RB in the NFL.
Rushing:
Holmes 4590 Yards, 4.8 YPC, 61 TDs in 46 games
Tomlinson 4564 Yards, 4.5 YPC, 42 TDs in 48 games
Portis 3099 Yards, 5.5 YPC, 31 TDs in 32 games
Lewis 3393 Yards, 4.9 YPC, 21 TDS in 32 games
Alexander 3928 Yards, 4.2 YPC, 50 TDs in 48 games
Martin 3811 Yards, 4.2 YPC, 28 TDs in 48 games
Williams 4470 Yards, 4.1 YPC, 34 TDs in 48 games
What do you think his legacy is?

He was the first of the modern wave to put up the outrageous TD numbers, which IMO is directly responsible for the boom in fantasy football. I'd call him the godfather of modern fantasy RBs.
I always liked how he carried himself--you could tell he was confident, but humble and thoughtful. He knew he could very quickly go back to being the seldom-used backup like he was for the first few years of his career, and he played with that motivation every snap.

Disinterested. Aloof. Somewhat Anti-Social.
But he was a hell of a Running Back, when he got his shot.

One of my fave backs and sad to see him go. Got to respect the fact that he came back from the injury that he had.
The thing that i was most impressed about his game was his vision and that knack to find a hole for a big gain. He just seemed to do it so much better than most guys these days.

Wow, that was a concise yet a very powerful analysis.

I'd actually go with Marshall Faulk.

Well, he had a 26 TD season but 8 were receiving.

Ultimately, though, he never lead the Chiefs to a playoff victory.
Yes, he has a ring (from 2000 with Ravens). But he was just along for the ride that year.
