On a side note, how the hell is Joe Namath in the hall of fame?

What about Benny Friedman? I'm still not too sure why he's in the HOF.

(Though that may be due to my ignornace of the prehistoric ages of Football)

Lynn Swann is in the hall of fame over Art Monk and Gary Clark.

Sorry I saw his name in this thread and had to get that off my chest. One of the things in football that make my blood boil.

I decided to look up Jake Gylenhal's career and I've only seen two movies he's been in: Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain, and I thought both movies were boring. So this movie will probably suck too.

Lynn Swann was a field-stretcher and glamour boy for one of the most effective teams of all time. By the numbers he has no business in the HOF, but a lot of the Steelers from that era considered him the leader of the team and the most irreplacable guy on those Super Bowl offenses. He was a good looking, charismatic highlight-reel staple on the team of the decade and the team most of America rooted for to quash "America's Team", which was almost universally hated outside of the Dallas and their bandwagon. I'm not saying I necessarily agree he's a HOFer, but put the emphasis on the "fame" part of the equation and he's a no-brainer.

bob hayes >>>>>>>>>>>>>> lynn swann

[/homer] its true though, when teams invent defenses based soley on your impact on the field, you should be a HoF.

Icness, he might have been a glamorous player, that still doesn't change the fact that he was only a very good player. The Hall of Fame is not for those. Hes only in the HOF because of his team, his rings and his big plays in big games.

Despite the fact that more consistent, reliable and better players are jipped due to idiotic reasons that even Swann didn't accomplish. The angriest I've ever been watching a sports show was when Adam Schefter said that Art Monk isn't HOF worthy because he never had a signature play.

A. Thats a completely false statement.
B. Thats completely idiotic and just emphasizes your point sadly. Swann had a few memorable catches, all Art Monk had was clutch third down receptions.

The HOF inducts people every year who are far from deserving. Look at the last class--Charlie Sanders and Roger Wehrli have no business even knowing where the HOF is located. Neither of those guys had any degree of fame either. Swann's grace, style, and knack for making big plays at crunch time made him the face (along with Lambert) of the dynasty. He also gets points for his on-air work following his retirement; I know that's not supposed to matter but I think we're all smarter than that

And Art Monk definitely belongs. So do Clay Matthews and Kevin Greene, but I'm not holding my breath for any of those guys to get in.
