Bobby Petrino heading back to college.

Post#1 » by High 5 » Wed Dec 12, 2007 12:18 am

After going 3-10 as an NFL head coach, apparently Bobby is looking at the Arkansas job.

Good riddance. I guess the disgruntled vets were right.

These college coaches just gotta stay in college. I am talking to you, Urban Meyer.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

Does anybody else think Jim Mora could end up becoming the Falcons' coach again?

He should've waited until the season ended.

But honestly...can you really blame him?

I sure as hell can't

It's unfortunate he lost his QB soon after he got here, but all reports said he treated the players like kids (not letting them talk on the plane, that's (Please Use More Appropriate Word)) and made it known that he wasn't too interested in the vets' futures with the team. He cut Grady Jackson out of the blue when he was our best run stuffer. He didn't give Grady a reason and it pissed off pretty much the entire team. I want a coach that is tough, you shouldn't be friends with your coach, but he was extreme.

As far as what we saw on the field, yeah, we got more passing yards, but the rest of our offense went to hell. He didn't have a lot to work with, but I would expect such an offensive genius to be better than last.

They just gave an interesting note on ESPN. The last first year coach to quit during the middle of the season was Lou Holtz, who was also 3-10 and also left to take the head coaching job at Arkansas.

Nah, its the falcons. They'll probably do something typically stupid like hire Chan Gailey. Its convienient because he probably doesnt live too far away already.

....and Pete Carrol. Anyway Petrino should be at least smart enough to never try to make it in the pros ever again. Smart choice to go back to college coaching.
