Wikipedia has information on the 4-3, 3-4, cover 2, and the 46. I have been trying to get more information on that creep defense teams have been using this year, but I haven't had any luck.

The 3-4 and 4-3 refer to down linemen and linebackers in the formation.
The 3-4 implies 3 down linemen and 4 linebackers while the 4-3 implies 4 down linemen and 3 linebackers.

The cover 2 is a sort of coverage scheme, in which the field is split up into zone coverage by the defenders. The safeties cover the deep areas, and split the field in half, while the corners and the linebackers cover the mids/flats and split that area into fifths.

I could go more in depth if you want, but that's basically the gist of it.

For defensive philosophy?

That's pretty hard since it isn't as well documented as offensive philosophies.

Well pretty much every coach's offensive philosophies can trace their roots back to Bill Walsh and Don Coryell (Either/Or or a Mixture of the two).

When you see the 3-4 defense, there are a lot of variations of it. That alone you can learn a lot. One thing that is useless to learn is the new Jets system 2-4-5 mainly because they cant succeed with 3-4.

Bah since the bye week the Jets have been playing a lot better on the defensive side of the ball. Though you would think with a statement like this "One thing that is useless to learn is the new Jets system 2-4-5 mainly because they cant succeed with 3-4." Emphasis on Jets system...

We've actually played better D after the bye. So yes we do.

The Cover 2 defense was the brilliant defense that finally slowed down the high octane Rams offense.

There was always 2 safeties deep. Sometimes, the middle linebacker would drop back into the deep zone and it becomes a Cover 3.

That type of containment made it difficult for the Rams to throw the ball deep. They were given short passes, which the team wasn't used to.

These are pretty self explanatory.

Oh oh oh! My school runs the coveted Cover 3, 4-4-3 Defense. It's lovely. I imagine that's how much teams defend the run, bringing one safety up in the box(the area with the LBs and DL are).

I played in that "Bear" defense in 8th and 9th grade, except we played man coverage outside and pressed any slots or TEs, with the FS playing centerfield (aka "Rover"). At the time I was an undersized (read: skinny weakling) OLB and even I was hard to block most of the time. It's based off the 46 of Buddy Ryan, though those Bears and Eagles defenses of his played closer to the line and brought more pressure up the middle than most teams who try that D.

Frankly I don't see why more teams don't run that against crappy QBs. If you can drop an LB or two into coverage every now and then, it's a very difficult defense to attack anywhere but deep. And you can usually get to the QB pretty quickly with 6-7 guys rushing. If I had two coverage capable/speedy CBs I wouldn't hesitate to use it as my base defense against all offenses except the Martz's and Payton's of the league.
