He played a bit longer than he should have, but none-the-less he is going to Canton, most likely not first ballot but still will eventually get in.

My favorite DT of all time. We might see some other members of that great Tampa D to retire this offseason or soon with Lynch, Brooks, and Barber winding down their careers. All of them should be in the HOF.

I wish he would've stuck around a little longer and joined a contender. I always wanted to see him finish his career reunited with Dungy on the Colts to tell you the truth. Still a great player in his prime and probably a HOF'er

Why do you say that?

BTW, I love how he made his announcement:

Even as a Falcons fan I love the guy. Great player and better trash talker.

Sapp has been a detriment to the Raiders run defense for too long. Unfortunately, his "star" status meant that our inept FO would use minimal draft picks and give minimal attention to our NTs, as how could there be a problem with SAPP there?!?!

Great day for the Raiders... great one for Sapp too. He did have a helluva career.

Felt he could've had a couple more years.

Sapp for sure. Brooks, Lynch, and Barber? I could go either way, but I'd rate their chances in that order.

If Ronde Barber makes the HoF before Ken Riley, I give up.

Brooks and Lynch probably will and should get in the HOF. I don't see Barber though.

He will be a hall of famer. Lynch will be too, as well as Brooks. I do not see Barber getting in.

I think what Sapp himself boasted is quite true:
Every DT prospect in the last 12 years got compared to Sapp, and he is the prototype 3-technique tackle that is requisite for running a successful base Cover-2 defense.

He didn't create the position, but he played it as well as anyone I can recall. His personality and popularity with the casual fan ensure he's got a spot in Canton. Go ahead and ask your mother-in-law if she knows who Warren Sapp is, then ask her to name another defensive tackle. Ever.

I think Lynch and Brooks are HOFers too, but Ronde has an uphill fight IMO.

The only defensive tackle of our time that I think comes close to Sapp is Bryant Young, a Hall of Famer in his own right.

He had a great career, I also wish he had played for a contender.

How about one more year with the Patriots next season? Get that ring! lol
