they need to completely reshape there offense, the oline sucks, benson is average and grossman and the wr's arent special either aside from berrian being a decent deep threat

the only position that doesnt need fixing is your tight end

Our friend CBS_7 had a nice list going as his sig. Icness thinks Cliff Levingston is on the right path in the similar thread to this on the Bears board too.

My personal priority list for the Bears:
1. Upgrade and get younger on the OL, esp. at RG and RT
2. Get a QB that can handle intense media scrutiny and throwing to lousy WRs behind an OL in transition, with an iffy running game in support.
3. Replace Lance Briggs; if he re-ups, replace Mike Brown
4. Land a #1 WR, this moves up a notch if Berrian leaves (I'd let him go)
5. Add depth at DT and LB. When Izzy Idonije is playing half your snaps at DT, you're in major need of depth even if he was playing due to 3 guys ahead of him being injured.
6. Upgrade RB, and figure out neither Garrett Wolfe nor Ced Benson are worth keeping.
Of course I would also fire Lovie to kick-start things, but that ain't gonna happen.

^ Can't argue with that. Although I would like to point out, there are't many QBs that can handle intense media scruntiny, throw to lousy WRs behind a bad OL with no run support that aren't named Brady or Manning .

The Bears have too many holes on offense, big and small (OL, RB, WR, QB), and one gaping hole on defense (Safety), they can't really fix them all in one offseason.

I'd like to give Grossman one last chance behind a competent O-Line. He did impress me in the four games after he returned and before he got injured. He wasn't exactly lighting the word on fire, but he looked more mobile, made better, more accurate throws, was picked off just once, and had 2 huge 4th quarter TD passes. He played like a game manager that could make clutch plays when needed to. It was completely different from when he looked good last year, when he pretty much caught defenses by surprise by going for deep bombs, and when defenses adjusted, he was too up and down for everyone's taste.

Bring in another RB, but keep Benson. The OL was truly, truly terrible this season. Bring someone in to give him more competition then Peterson, but again give him one last chance.

My hopes:
Make the main offseason targets OL and safety whether through the draft or FA. Get rid of Ron Turner. Try hard to keep Briggs, let go of Berrian if he asks for too much, and find a WR to take his place. Bring in a RB that could pressure Benson for the starting spot. Depth at DT would be nice.

A healthy defense is enough to get these Bears back into the playoffs, and some good moves on the offensive side could get these Bears back into contendership.

1) Agreed.
2) Is Tom Brady or Peyton Manning available?
3) Keep Briggs. Replace Mike Brown, but still, keep him too. When he's playing he's a top 5 safety in the NFL. We just need to be more prepared if (when.. :-?) he goes down again. I think its worth it, the defense is just that much better with him.
4) With so many other bigger weaknesses, I'm comfortable with going into next season with the same WR corps. However it seems that Berrian won't be staying, so yes, we need a good WR. Hopefully Hester will continue to make strides and will work his way up to at least a great #3 next year, and continue that progression further in the future.
5) DT, sure, but we sure had some crazy injury problems on the D. Our best DT was severely slowed for 13 games of the year, our other opening day starter was injured for the year on opening day, and our top two backups couldn't stay healthy. LB, not so much. Urlacher looked a lot better in the last 5 games. Not to the level of his previous dominance, but way better then he was playing for most of the year.
6) I doubt that they think Wolfe will ever be a #1 RB in the NFL, but I like him as a player in the passing game. He had an impressive 30+ yard catch/run vs New Orleans on a 3rd and 20+. Benson, we'll give him one more chance. Not that he deserves it, but I have a little bit of hope in him and we have invested a lot in him.

Ryan Clady? Jeff Otah? Desean Jackson? Malcolm Kelley? Andre Woodson?

Kenny Philips would also be GREAT but Offense is a tad bit more of a priority.

What dont they need would be a shorter list.
