The Most Unclimatic end to a season...Ever!

Post#1 » by Kid Vicious » Mon Jan 14, 2008 3:31 am

Not only was the last few weeks of the regular season a complete waste (because all the positioning was locked up), but now the playoffs as well are a complete flop.

There is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that the Patriots are going to win it all now. Nothing is getting in the way of 19-0.

And while it may be 'historic' and 'unprecendented', it doesn't change the fact that it will be a boring conclusion to this season.

I can't ever remember a more boring end to an NFL season. No tension is left at all.

Of course...but what difference will it ultimately make? The fact that Dallas is out means there is 1 less legitimate contender left.

Even if the Giants make the Superbowl, so what? They're not beating the Pats.

The whole point is there is no suspense left...we all know who is winning, and there's not a realistic chance that they're going to lose. They're favoured by 15 points in the AFC championship!!!!

Yeah it's all over.

Are ALL Patriots fans (meaning the ones that are at their home games) this dumb?

When a dynasty is peaking people say its boring, but when their is true parity people say its boring as well. Really, if you can't enjoy what's going on, it's on you.

I will say though that anyone who think its impossible for the Pats to lose is silly. They don't play 7 game series in football, which makes it much more likely that the inferior team wins out. Case in point? The '01 Pats, who certainly weren't considered anywhere near as strong as the current Packer team.

SO the playoffs are supposed to go the way everyone thought they would? With every higher seed winning? To me that's boring. This is great. What are you a Colt fan?

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the Giants the only team in the playoffs to have gotten within 3 points of beating the Pats?

Who said anything about dynasty or parity? I don't care who wins, as long as there is some competition or question as to who will win.

And we can all 'say' how we think there's a chance the Pats will lose, but will any of you put your money where your mouth is? Who would be willing to bet that the Pats don't win it all?

Probably very, very few.

you obiviously don't know football. NE's rush defense is not good and their Achilles' heel. LT can do major damage against them, and so can NYG (as they only lost by 3..). football is an amazing sport and ANYTHING can happen.

and plus. it IS exiciting seeing a team try to go 19-0, and it is exiciting to see favre trying to cement his career, while also seeing eli trying to prove nyg fans wrong. not to mention LT trying to complete the last piece of his HOF resume.

Too bad there was never a colts/pats re-match. For me that would have made the season, just another tight post-season game, Brady vs Manning.

Brady vs. Favre not enough? ;) It will be for a lot of other people.

If the Packers win, of course.

LT got shutdown earlier in the season when the Pats didn't have Seymour or Harrison, who are both back and finally at 100% now. The Jags, who were supposed to run all over NE of course, amassed a whole 80 yards on the ground 14 of which came from Garrard scrambles. What's this weakness you speak of again? BB will simply stack the box and make Rivers beat the Pats, which I doubt he'll do.

This has been a very exciting season. Endings aren't supposed to be climactic; that's what the climax is for.

A Packers v. Pats Super Bowl would be very exciting. These two teams matched up 11 years ago in the Bowl and the Packers won. Troy Brown, Tedy Bruschi and Brett Favre are the only players who remain.

Almost everyone will be rooting for the Packers and Brett Favre (GUNSLINGER!) except those in the New England area.

I'll like to point out that was the beginning of the season when LT could barely run against a eventually porous Chicago Run Defense.

and I'll also like to point out that the Colts tried to make Philip Rivers beat them...and well you know what happened next.

this is very exciting. the defending superbowl champs, upset at home. that was a good game by the chargers vs. colts. giants vs. cowboys. even jags vs. steelers.

much better than last year, where the only thing happenin was reggie bush leading his team to the conference finals.

but this year, theres more games this year.

If LT is good to go then this season isn't over at all. The Patriots have been pushed to their limit by worse teams. (bad teams actually)

I actually won't be shocked to see SD give them a good game, and I damn sure wouldn't be surprised(in fact, I expect) if either NFC team gives them a good game, and possibly an upset, especially GB.

Sure, odds are very likely the Pats run the table but I'm actually not expecting blowouts like most people. I just have a feeling it's going to be closer than most expect.

Then again....even if it's not I'm going to damn sure enjoy watching this historical team decimate it's competition and do something that's never been done before, and I'm glad I'm alive to see history in the making.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Anti-climactic.
