I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up back in the college ranks.

Does LAKESHOW have a rec-league football team he can coach?

Anybody else surprised by this firing?

I hope Vince Young doesn't become a offensive coordinator killer like Mike Vick

he might be. i mean he can't pass and so far, his awareness is absolutely horrible for a QB. he's impatient in the pocket and he runs into his own lineman all the time.... someone needs to fix him quick.

It did come pretty out of the blue. I wonder if there was some conflict with management or Jeff Fisher after the San Diego loss?

I'm not surprised at all by this move, his job is to improve Vince Young. And that sure didn't happen this season.

Fans have been grumbling, but there was no indication beforehand.

I was surprised, but the good kind of surprised. Not the bad kind.
Though I get the feeling that this firing may have been due more to the philosophical difference on offense of Norm Chow and Jeff Fisher, more so than Norm Chow under performing (Which I do think happened as well...but that's another point)

You can't really be that suprised, the Titans had to do something. When your Franchise QB throws twice as many INTS as TDS then somebody is gonna take the fall. Something that has to be changed to better help out Vince. Some better WR's wouldn't hurt him either

last year, one game away from playoffs.
this year, into the playoffs.

progress had been made. but they were not going to defeat san diego. cmon, the chargers owned them twice like they own the colts.

so whats the beef? in the pro ranks, the pressure is WIN NOW! rather than slowly progress into a championship contender. and develop QBs? theyre not into that.

heres whats said by players:
"according to center Kevin Mawae, Young still hasn't learned."

the ownership in my estimation, has gotten impatient and antsy. feeling the heat and pressure. but what are they going to do, trade the QB? as if they were supposed to go to the superbowl this year. NOT A CHANCE!

the progress of the titans is there for all to see. but that is the reality of the LEAGUE! it is a WIN NOW league. and in their haste and impatience, they have made a gigantic mistake. because they will find out, young is a QB that needs stability, patience, time and development. he aint a regular pocket QB. that must be developed over time.

The offense has been pretty terrible since he has been there. USC guys should just stay in college.

Pretty well-thought post; I think you're a lot more right than wrong.

I haven't heard anything yet, but my suspicion is that Chow wanted to take more chances and try some different things, and Fisher wanted nothing to do wtih it. I know Chow felt handcuffed somewhat by the limitations of Young's accuracy and also how Fisher devised gameplans, so I'm pretty certain he's not all that upset by this move.

Total speculation, but I could see Chow winding up in the same role in Baltimore next season.

if June Jones leaves and goes to SMU..... then U of Hawaii could be a good fit.

or if Jason Garrett leaves Dallas, the Cowboys could be another good destination.

There hasn't been significant improvement in the offense in the chow era. If you look at the other side of the ball the defense has improved dramatically each year under Jim Schwartz. I think there is more to this story then that though coordinators getting fired is rare at least in Tennessee though I do remember one coordinator getting fired for not getting permission from the club to speak to other teams about offers. I'm not sure if that happen in this case some have mused about it on other Titan boards.

I thought Hawaii already hired another coach, in house?
