Dungy steps down?

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:34 pm

Jim Caldwell seems to be the heir apparent.
Source Rotoworld.com via PFT via League Source. CLASSIC!!!

Citing a league source, Profootballtalk.com reports Colts coach Tony Dungy will step down and be replaced by assistant head coach Jim Caldwell.

Dungy isn't expected to make his decision official before next Monday, but most close to the situation have expected him to retire. Caldwell is highly regarded in the Colts' locker room, especially by Peyton Manning.

if true, sad to see him go, complete class act...

Nothing against Caldwell, but I hope this isn't true. Dungy is a class act, and I know everyone in blue loves playing for him. Despite his cool demeanor, he's a great football mind too.

Every informed pundit I've heard has said they believe Dungy is done, so there's probably fire to all that smoke. But I'll believe it when I see it too.

Might not be that bad of a turn of events for the Colts. If Dungy stays another year, Caldwell may take another head coaching oppurtunity.
