Was this really an upset?

Everyone in the media is calling this an upset. But I think it's them just trying to cover their asses. The Giants simply deserved to win this game. They were the better team tonight. When someone uses the term "upset", I usually take it as they weren't really the better team but they somehow pulled it out.

After watching this game, I really think the Patriots' vaunted O-Line just got exposed. I don't consider this an upset, I just think a lot of people, including myself, flat out underestimated the G-MEN.

It would be a lot easier for me to say that the Giants pulled off the upset, but the truth is I was just wrong, like a lot of people were. The better team won and I didn't think it would be the Giants.

The Giants didn't win this game - the Patriots lost it.

How so? The Giants were able to get pressure on Brady all night. He rushed a lot of his throws, although he put together a great drive in the 4th with quick 3-step dropbacks and dump offs. Their secondary made some big plays even when Brady DID get the ball off. I think the Giants took New England out of their comfort zone.

18-0 vs. Wildcard. If you don't consider that an upset, you might as well just stop watching sports.

The line was way more of an issue than anyone in the mainstream media cared to look at (boy, does Gregg Easterbrook have eggs on his face now), but even the very good players on the line played absolutely awful tonight. Tom Brady would have had to have an inhuman game to make up for that (hence the tired but true mantra: a QB is only as good as the guys blocking him).

This was still an upset. Not to take anything away from the Giants though. Their win was well-deserved.

Okay, easy to say after the game. And whoever said Giants didn't win this game needs go home and take some Nyquil because if I ever saw a team snatching the win, this was it.

That's not really relevant to the term upset. Patriots were favored and almost universally expected to win. That makes it an upset.

What's wrong with you? That's the definition of an upset.

Of course it was a huge upset. Did anybody really think the Pats' offense was going to be slowed down to a crawl most of the game? The Giants virtually had to accomplish a fantasy script to win the game.

And they did just that.

I do not consider this a huge upset because the Giants nearly beat the Patriots in week 17 until they blew it away at the end.

Like I said, there's a difference between being wrong and an upset. To me the term upset is a lack of respect.

In the betting world, sure this is an upset. I'm not a betting man so the line, over/unders, etc are of no concern to me.

It's a huge upset. Anytime you have a team with a perfect season going into the last game, it's an upset if they lose
