Air McNair Retires

The news that Steve McNair decided to retire Thursday came as a little bit of a surprise.
According to his agent, Bus Cook, McNair had only expressed a desire to retire in the past couple of days. He had been training hard during the offseason, doing a lot of weightlifting and running to help his legs. At the NFL owners meeting, new Ravens coach John Harbaugh praised McNair for his hard work and indicated he had lost about 10 pounds from last season.
What's up with Bus Cook's qb clients all unsuspectingly retiring?

Hes got the perfect setup to reenact the first Ace Ventura movie. With him as the nutjob and Kevin Dyson in Marinos role (of being the one that **** up in the superbowl.
They should do a remake with those guys. Throw in Pacman getting arrested by whatever police department it is in the movie 3 or 4 times too. That would be great.

I didn't expect this but it was probably the right decision. He had a good career...nothing to be ashamed of. I remember when the Oilers first drafted him and Eddie George like it was yesterday. He was a warrior and a gamer in his prime.

One year too late...
Very good QB with unmatched toughness, though all the physical abuse clearly impacted his skill set the last 2-3 years. He only attempted 4 passes that travelled more than 20 yards downfield in his last 10 games and had the lowest percentage of completions that resulted in a 1st down of any QB over the last 3 seasons. I'll choose to remember the McNair from the Eddie George era

I was pretty surprised when I heard about it, but it does all make sense.
Nonetheless, the two toughest QBs of the last (almost) two decades have decided to hang them up this offseason.

Excellent competitor, but yeah, his play has clearly slipped off the past couple of seasons.

He probably won't make it but hes a hall of fame player in my opinion. What a f'in beast in his prime. Never had the best talent around him, but got the job done. Toughness, leadership, clutch, McNair was amazing.
One yard away from a SuperBowl ring. One freakin yard.

I don't think he'll get into the hall of fame but he was a great competitor and as tough as they came. But his play really slowed down the past couple years. Good decision.

Isn't it funny how two guys so connected(Favre and McNair) both retire in the same off season.

McNair is no Hall of Famer
If there were a NFL Tough Guys Hall of Fame, Steve McNair would stand at the head of the class.
Five years from now, when McNair is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he will fall short when voters gather during Super Bowl week.
