Roger goodell, Good or Bad?

Post#1 » by GameTime_3 » Wed May 14, 2008 8:20 pm

Is Roger goodell helping the NFL? To me, I think the guy is a snake. I dont trust him, I see him as a Bud Selig wanabe and thats not a good thing. The guy has a Ego bigger then this whole website. Yes, I like the fact that he is punishing the players for being criminals but it seems that he is not fair and that he is differnt to every person. The reason i bring this up is because most people think that he is a great Commish but i think that he is going to hurt the league. Please let me know what you think about the guy, Do i stand alone or do many of you feel the same?

What league were you watching?

I'm not trying to defend the guy, I'm not a huge fan of his, but I think he's doing a pretty good job thus far.... aside from handling Spygate.

We'll see when a big name does something that calls for suspension. He's fortunate Vick's offense was as serious as it was.

I just want to know if a player's household was considered a "drug emporium" by a judge would they have faced any consequences of gotten off scotch free like the eagles coach.

Does anyone think there is a double standard?

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I don't really like him but hes the best commissioner in sports in my opinion. Gary Buttman is a joke, baseball sucks and I lost all respect for David Stern after looking at how hes trying to save face and cover Clay Bennetts butt.

Goodell is going to make his true mark with the upcoming CBA. That and how he handles the ongoing battle with cable companies over the NFL Network. As of now he's on the short end of both hoses, but that could change pretty quickly.

I applaud the increased attention and discipline for criminal activity--it was long overdue. I would agree that the administration of discipline has been inconsistent and questionable, but being too harsh is better than being too lax IMO. And is it really that hard to not be involved in criminal activity?

The Andy Reid situation is real complex. If Reid didn't feel compelled to take a leave of absence to handle it, I don't really think any league-imposed action would have been justified. If you punished players for the activities of their family members or people living where they pay the mortgages, you might have to contract a couple of teams--there won't be enough players left.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game
