I came across this article on another site

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3405076

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell raised the possibility of having a 17th regular-season game as an option to help settle some of the league's future labor problems.

A 17th regular-season game could replace a fourth preseason game and the possibility comes at a time that the league is not satisfied with the quality of the preseason. The league made a presentation to owners about ways to improve the current preseason Tuesday.

I'm not really sure how much I'd be in favor of a 17th game, really for long term health reasons. Though it would be nice to replace a 4th home game. I heard a theory about this a while ago from a local talk show and the guy suggested that you put the 17th game on a neutral site, and maybe make every team play an international game, which it seems like the nfl is becoming more and more interested in doing.

I don't like the idea, especially the suggestions about international/neutral site games, but the thought of subtracting one of the horrific preseason games is great.

I dont like the idea either.

I enjoy the schedule as it is now.

It think it would be better to add a 2nd bye week. The league gets the extra revenue of another televised week, the players get an extra week of rest (instead of another game of wear-and-tear), and... OK, I can only come up with those two advantages, but they work for me...
