Cedric Benson's rocky relationship with the Chicago Bears got murkier Saturday after the running back's arrest on a drunken driving charge in Austin, Texas, his second arrest in little more than a month.
Bears officials said they would treat the matter seriously. Benson's attorney said the former Texas star had a few drinks with dinner but didn't think he was intoxicated, and cooperated with police.
Still, attorney Sam Bassett acknowledged, "He's probably in trouble with his team for breaking curfew and having anything to drink under the circumstances."
Authorities said Benson was arrested early Saturday after he failed a field sobriety test. The former first-round draft pick was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on bond.

What the hell is that? I mean really theres no good thing you can say, or reasonably defend him. But as an attorney, why would you put yourself out there to look stupid? I guess now I see why its always no comment, or they couldnt be reached for comment.

Some guys just never seem to learn, or handle the pressure that comes along with being a prominent athlete. Ced Benson is clearly one of those guys.
I actually think this might be a very good thing for the Bears, so long as Matt Forte is the guy I think he is. This allows them to cut Benson without taking much crap from the hyper-critical Chicago media or the hyper-sensitive Bears fan base (no offense guys, but you are what you are!). Forte can get all the 1st team reps, the team can go out and pursue the waiver wire RB of their liking (hello Lamont Jordan) and the Bears can close the book on what a lot of players will tell you was the biggest reason why their 2007 sucked.
