I met Adam Archuleta, and we had a grappling match!

Post#1 » by El Hardee » Fri Aug 1, 2008 12:02 am

Adam Archuleta, one of my favorite players, joined my gym today. We then proceeded to have a Submission wrestling/Jiu Jitsu match. He is easily the strongest dude I have ever grappled with. He is also a very down to earth cool dude.

Wow that is pretty sweet. What did you talk about with him? And did you by any chance meet his hot girlfriend Jennifer Walcott?

That's pretty cool, though I must ask, how did a grappling match come into the conversation?

In his senior year at Iowa, I met Dallas Clark with a friend of mine, and we got to have lunch with him.

I go to a BJJ/MMA gym. We have quite a few ex-NFL players there but Archuleta was on of my faves being I am a Ram fan. I didnt see his chick, but he told me he hasnt been signed yet but he now plans on playing OLB the dude looks as big as Urlacher he has put on a ton of muscle since his Rams days. He mostly just wanted me show him some Jits moves, not too much Football talk.

Ouch! When we grappled he put his head down and speared me like a RB coming through the hole. It shocked me at first because of his explosion but I was able to regain my wits and go to work.

I remember that play. I also remember that one of the plays right after, if not immediately after, Archuleta got him back. But it wasn't as good a hit.

It was Crayton, right?

Nah Crayton doesnt have those skills, thats Sam Hurd. (He's going to surprise alot of people this season)

Yeah Archuleta tackled him after Hurd caught it, wasnt a very hard hit though.

Very cool! I think the average person would be very surprised by how physically strong even the smallest NFL players really are. Even Garrett Wolfe is a pretty strong dude and he looks like a 7th grader.

I like that he's considering a move to OLB. The Lions certainly could use someone in that capacity who can actually tackle to play opposite Ernie Sims.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Challenge him to a running match, bet you got him beat there.

I think he knows his coverage skills are lacking hence the move to OLB. I cant believe you cats are dogging him like this, he was a borderline Pro-Bowler when he was in STL. The dude is extremely humble give him a break. Who knows, if learns the fight game he might have a future in MMA, he for sure has the athletic ability, once he gets the technique dude might be dangerous.

dog he was a borderline pro bowler and former big hitter
he was a big part of the reason the bears were so awful last year, cant cover anything routinely had PI called him and was only keeping up with TE's and slower recievers. however he had better skills against the run, and thats cool that you met him

Morton tried to get into MMA? I didnt know that, I take it he must a have gotten rocked. Michael Westbrook (Redskins), and Matt Joyce (Lions) also train at my gym. I have not had the opportunity to "roll" with Westbrook but he is a Brown belt in BJJ and very tough.
